these mother****ers on here would quit as soon as they felt a jab if they ever fought but sit in their chairs in their mum's basement and say joshua quit, he has a glass jaw, eetc
Being someone that suffers from panic attacks and anxiety myself and has been through all sorts of drugs and cognitive therapy a for it. I can say I would be extremely surprised if Joshua is prone to panic attacks. Its just does not go with his personality type, he is so layed back about everything and I've never seen an ounce of nerves in him. People who suffer from anxiety and panic attacks are usually nervous individuals, talk fast, can't sit still, perhaps shy and introverted. Worryers and stress heads. Joshua doesn't have any traits of someone who would suffer from panic attacks in fact the complete opposite. But if he had had a proper panic attack it would have affected his performance. It puts the body into flight or fight mode, drains your energy and adrenaline goes through the roof. You feel like you are going to die - literally. I've called the ambulance twice with them because I thought I was having a heart attack. You sweat, you go weak, chest pains, palpitations, heart races and after it subsides you just want to go to sleep . I don't believe this happened though, why would it, it was routine defence, he's been there plenty of times before
Here comes the whole ''they wouldn't last a round in the ring'' shtick when bereft of all credible argument You have no idea of anyone's experience in fighting. We know Joshua quit in there because we have visual evidence of that. It's hilarious seeing the fanboys attempt to convince themselves otherwise. Why don't you share with us what you thought he did instead pray tell?
And I couldn’t disagree more with your description of an anxiety sufferer! First of all it can be anyone, of any age, healthy or not, happy or not, fearful or not, nervous or not! I am an ex professional sportsman having played one of the most brutal sports in the world, I’m over 6’ 1” and 16st+. I suffered from random anxiety attacks when I was in the most secure, happy and stress free eras of my life. Believe me, they can take a grip of anyone including a 6’6” World Boxing Champion. Lastly, the anxiety is not about what’s happening right there and then, it’s not fear and those saying crap like that are pure ignorance itself!
From what i remember from the Wlad fight he wasn't anywhere near as bad as that between rounds, and he was down hard in that fight.
It seems more likely that he looked nervous and unsettled because the occasion got to him a bit, he had a lot to prove in his mind and maybe he was stupid enough to put looking good before winning the actual fight. the panic attack story seems a bit far fetched, as said, AJ comes across as a well composed individual, unless he hides that very well. I think with a panic attack we would have seen a Golota type situation, desperation, anything to get out of the ring. People want reasons I guess but I think the occasion and pressure got to him added to the fact he was facing his toughest opponent yet, an opponent that possibly had the beating of him whatever shape he was in mentally or physically.
There are a fair few fighters past & present that occasionally come off worse in sparring, Ali was famous for it, but if you're continually getting knocked out in camp it's time to re-evaluate.
Not in America at Madison Square Garden in front of spectators who know their boxing and who are not easily duped by mere show and pomp. Not only that he had the pressure of trying to best Wilder's empathetic 1st round KO. Could he live up to his rival's performance in front of his own countrymen? Dillian Whyte has also in the past made mention of Joshua having panic attacks so it's not something which is unheard of. This is a fighter which has been bred to only fight in one location in a controlled environment with the officials, judges and, drug testers all on board singing from the same hymm sheet. Made to be accustomed to elaborate ring entrances to walk in front of dazzled fans who sing Sweet Carolina in union while drowning all their thoughts away into a bottle of stella. All these factors are why it is reasonable to believe he a had a meltdown in the dressing room.
i agree with most people that there was something wrong with him. BUT when you step in to the ring, there are no excuses.(actually AJ himself said there was nothing wrong just that he was beat by a better fighter)
Forget the confidence issue. If you have been knocked unconcious relativelty recently then you should not be fighting at all, period. You see all these journeyman who make a living for being fodder for prospects try anything and everything to avoid a KO as they will be banned from fighting any time soon (6 weeks in the UK isnt it? correct me if im wrong). Why should it be different if a fighter is KO'd in sparring? If that has happened then it doesnt take much to scramble your brain again as it wont have fully recovered.
Listen, all the people blaming Hearn for putting AJ under pressure and building him into something he isn't need to remember that it has all been to AJ's benefit. Hes fedo it and leached on the sport for years. He's a very rich man now but all lies catch up eventually, the gravy train is over
It's a lame excuse. He's been knocked out cold in sparring before fights and gone on to victory. It's only due to him losing that people are looking for reasons/justifications Fighters get dropped in sparring in preparing for bouts all the time, you just don't often hear about it because no one wants to reveal what goes on in sparring. AJ didn't lose because he got hurt in sparring, he lost because he faced a superior fighter that did not cower to his size.
That is a fact. I'm not really sure where the quit part comes in to play. From my recollection, the ref asked Joshua if he wanted to continue and he responded with a yes. I am assuming that the ref did not like what he saw when looking at Joshua's eyes or body language.
this fight reminded me of cotto vs sergio martinez, cotto caught Martinez on the temple and Martinez never recovered.
