Mayweather wouldn't fight on May 12th weekend; he fights on Cinco De Mayo weekend; which would be a week prior to what you're reporting...!!!

He picked the worst possible opponent out of his list.. I didn't think he'd do it..

 

It's weird. Seems like CBS would have to pay him 50 million+ to do that.

The fight will be on CBS so that it does not do a poor PPV number that hurts Floyd's reputation. He and his team want to make him seem like a huge draw, so they can't go from the large Pacquiao PPV numbers to a sub-1,000,000 PPV figure that will likely happen if the fight with Berto were on PPV.

Team Floyd will likely rationalize this decision to the fans by saying something like "we're doing it for the fans" and so on. But the truth is, if the fight could do more than 1M on PPV, it would be on PPV.

This way, Floyd gets to look like a super draw once again and then likely will look like it one more time with a Pacquiao rematch which I expect will be next.

After Floyd fought Canelo, his PPV numbers dipped considerably until Pacquiao. Now that he's nearing the end, he and his team want to go out looking like a huge draw in the eyes of the fans.

Honestly, from a public relations perspective this is a good move by Floyd to fight Berto on CBS. It's a transparent move, but still one that will likely go over with many fans who don't understand the game being played here.
