HUGE fan of Sabbath and Iommi, both the Ozzy and Dio years. Iommi used to beat up Ozzy in school.

Me too. At one point I had most of their albums although I kinda stopped following their work after the 80s. Ronnie Dio was awesome both with sabbath and on his own.

Love RJD with Rainbow, too ("Stargazer", "Gates of Babylon"). Lots of amazing music.

I even liked the BS albums with Ian Gillan and Glenn Hughes. Kind of Purple Sabbath lol.

Born again with Ian Gillian was an “ ok “ album. I also think that Tony Martin is underrated. I was listening to their 1989 album “ headless cross “ the other day. Good forgotten gem

That was a good one. Eternal Idol and Cross Purposes have a couple really good songs, too ("The Shining").

Yep, Neeson boxed, pretty good too(amature). A friend of mine, Joe Charles, a boxing guru from Claremorris, Ireland boxed him(and won!), I have a shot of the poster somewhere.

George Foreman, best known for the Foreman grill, was once a fine amateur!

I think he originally wanted to box, before going into wrestling.

Maybe noy a great amatuer career, but Daniel Day Lewis the madman that he is trained pretty hard to be as authentic as he could in the movie the boxer, I think those training him said he could of had a decent career if he started younger and stuck to it.

Apparently Iommi was a tough kid. Studied both boxing and martial arts. Mingled with some of the gangs of his area. Worked in a sheet metal factory for a while ( where he lost part of his fingers. ) And while he was kind of on the skinny side, he was a fairly tall dude over 6ft

Osbourne admitted in his book that he spent the late 60s and 70s very intimidated by Iommi. It's one of the reasons he really didn't write much while in the band, Geezer Butler wrote most of the lyrics.

I know it's an old post, but it's pretty widely believed that Bruce Lee's amateur career in Hong Kong where he won a school championship and defeated the city champion, 17 year old Gary Elms is completely fabricated. The photos you see online of him vs Gary are "real" photos, provided by Gary Elms' family, however, they do not photo Bruce Lee, as per the Bruce Lee Foundation
