As soon as I saw this thread I KNEW you would come on and say that. Is there anything Monzon wasn't the best at in your rose-tinted eyes? There's absolutely no evidence for this (on the contrary there are reports of Monzon being particularly chummy with Briscoe and Benvenuti for instance). You're pathetically predictable.
LEnnox had a superior attitude I'd actually like to turn the thread around, what about the fighter with the most respect for opponents, feared opponents, but victored??? ALi shows discontempt for opponents but when going into the first Liston bout was quoted as saying 'so do you think we can pull this off'?
When Tyson was with Rooney, he said he had nightmares about losing to all of his opponents & trained as if they all had the potential to beat him.
Ricardo Mayorga (everyone was offended by him) Jake LaMotta Riddick Bowe liked to cause a lot of trouble
You think? I think what Ali said of Frazier, he said either tongue in cheek, or because it was kind of true... I do not think Ali had any hatred of Frazier, maybe just a bit of disrespect. As for Ali with Terrell and Patterson, now that was contempt, and pretty ugly.
:good:good:good That's the first guy who came to my mind. I think it was either Bennie Briscoe or Emile Griffith who stated how "hateful" Monzon was and that he would "spit in your eye". He was very contemptuous at times. Like he was above crossing gloves with his opponents. The most apt description I've ever read of Monzon's fighting was that he fought with "Imperial fury". Like a king putting a whipping on a disobedient subject.
Watch out Surf-Bat...you'll arouse the contempt and fury of that" highly esteemed and most knowledgeable" poster..Itrymariti..you know...the twat troll that keeps popping up like a case of dick rot. He gets his panties in a wad real bad when you mention Monzon..and yes, it was Griffith who said that:good
Perhaps there was more to that Griffith comment than meets the eye...if you see where i'm going here.
I absolutely think ali hated frazier. The idea that he was just joking when saying some of the most venemous things about an opponent in ring history is all part of the softening of ali's image. There is joking and there is crossing the line and then there is what ali did which was to run full tilt across the line and not look back.
But some of the bad comments were kind of backed up with a little bit of evidence. I did not see Frazier fight on a civil rights platform, despite holding a position of potentially great influence. Ali had a point. I do not see that as venom per se...
Vitali. Screamed at Solis when he went down, super pissed and spiteful about the Lennox stoppage, the taking off Gomez's sunglasses and ****ing with opponents in general.
