Or last year. Or the year before that. Or the year before that. Or the year before that... Or next year. Or the year after that. Or the year after that..

I didn't hear much demand on here last year or the year before when Hatton was fighting Mayweather, Castillio, Maussa and Collazo, certainly nothing anywhere near this level. Now, after a loss, he's dropped a level of opposition for one fight and every wants him to fill the date with Witter...............

    Its not Jim'll-****ing-Fix It!!!;)

Iv been demanding it for the last 7 years. I cant speak for the rest off the board but im sure 50% of them werent even boxing fans when the Hatton Witter animosity took off.

And for the record Jim was a fraud. He never fixed jack **** for me.

2003/04 was the ideal time. Neither man was doing much else of note around then.

    I've always maintained this tune.

When the bout was first viable they were both fringe contenders (despite being ranked much higher). Warren didn't make the fight. He had all the power and he didn't make it. It's entirely his fault. Hatton said he'd happily make the bout but Warren didn't risk it. Maybe bouts like Thaxton and Magee scared him too much. Warren freely admits Hatton turned out to be a better fighter than he thought. It's no lie that Warren protected Ricky. The WBU was a cover up. The Tszyu bout was forced by Ricky after easier options in Pinto (WBO) and Harris (WBA) fell through. Those two bouts were forced by Ricky also. Warren knew he had to deliver cos Rickys contract was running out. Ricky got the bout he wanted and told Warren to **** off. I like it.

Anyway, Ricky was big time after this. The Witter bout was an alright one but Witter wasn't true world class despite being ranked high. Ricky was fighting for titles and making a name stateside. I then said that IF Witter can make himself a titlist again Ricky can't aviod him for any other fight other than elites one like Mayweather, Castillo etc

Ricky had his shot at P4P glory and failed. Witter is the best fighter at 140 outside of Ricky. Witter is the WBC champ with top quality wins over Corley, N'dou, Kotelnik, Harris etc It's a quality record. ONE loss in a bout you take on 5 days notice against a good fighter is no shame.

So the question is brought back that Ricky is avoiding Witter.

I don't think Ricky is scared or anything. He probably hates Witter for all the talk...

...however if differences can't be sorted in boxing where you can LEGALLY beat the other man up, then somethings wrong.

When Ricky fought Castillo then Mayweather, people couldn't really said Witter was the better bout. However Torres, Malignaggi, Lazcano, Rees are no where near as deserving...

...and I haven't even considered the marketing aspect of this bout. I say this purely on them as fighters.

This is a huge British clash. Ricky is linear but he's never owned the WBC belt! This fight could sell out anywhere in an hour. Sure Ricky can do this on his own but a fight against Lazcano gets forgotten. Against Witter, it gets remembered.

David Haye understands this, I just wish Ricky would too.

Well considering Hatton is ranked number 1 in the World and Witter ranked number 2, I would have to say NOW is the best time for the fight to happen not 4 years ago!

I'm not sure a fight has been viable as long as this one has. They were British top dogs at roughly the same time. They were fringe contenders at roughly the same time. Ricky Hatton broke away for about two years where he became elite but Witter was still a world champ waiting for Ricky to hit a bump and here is yet again waiting as the best titlist at 140.

Hence my post saying "this year"....Scura had said he'd been waiting for 7 years and I gave the 'best' years IMHO.

Thats sums it up, this was huge even when they wernt at world level, now they are both top dogs at 140! it really is a must.

Perhaps you could consider letting the matter go after all this time? If such an obvious match up fails to ever take place, it would be a shame but not the end of the world. There's too many other decent fights out there to get worked up over this.

Between two world class British boy's?

I'm with Scurla and JC on this.

All three of us were arounfd here when all that **** with Warren was going down and this board was the best Britsh board on the net.

Still, years later we are still asking for this fight.

Not at 140 there isnt. Hatton has said he has no intention of fighting there again. Even if he does he will surely get pulverised if he decides to take on guys like Shane Margo DLH Cotto etc. Right now 140 is devoid of life. Its a fairly mediocre division with a "Champ" who wont represent.
