I run sprints uphill. Helped my stamina and leg endurance a lot.

There's two hills in my area that I used to run regularly, one is about 200m long, I hate it so bad. The other is about 50m, and not too steep. The longer one I normally do between 5 and 8 sprints after a short run (~2 miles). The shorter one I normally do intervals, sprint up/jog down for 3 mins, rest for 1 minute, repeat.

The shorter one is my favourite, and it's pretty much right out the front of my house, so I used to go for a quick run around the block to warm up (just under a mile), do 4 or 5 intervals on the small hill then bust out the tyre and sledgehammer and finish with 2 tabata rounds on the hammer.

for twice a week for about half a year i went to a gym that had a special plyometrics class twice a week. It was basically a lot of jumping and short bursts of cadio (like jumping jacks and burpees) for 45 minutes. It was the most intense work out ive ever had. If you feel like trying something like this you can see at your local gym if they have classes like that. if not, the trainer during the workouts, told me he got most of the exercises from Insanity and the cardio workouts from p90x

Yeah my local boxing club incorporates hill running as part of our weekly routine. Twice a week we'll do a 3mile run on the flat and the other day we'll do a 2 1/2 mile run half of which is on a hill. The hill in question has a 33% gradient. To be honest i've yet to make it to the top without stopping. It's a killer.
