Ive never cared for women's boxing prior to 2018, but this year it has caught my interest more than I ever thought it would. Watching women like Katie Taylor, Claressa Shields and Cecilia Braekus for the first time I have to admit I hope the sport continues to grow. Anyone else feel the same way?
Really peaked and had them all running when theses skills were shown to the world Men beware are so I heard She beats floyd allegedly This content is protected
So, you like Women's boxing, but have no interest in the Cruiserweight division? This content is protected
No interest whatsoever. Also, I have programmed my mind to automatically reject anything that is being forced on me. Women's boxing is an interested to me as the ads you see before YouTube videos.
Had some curiosity and interest a while back with Layla Ali and Lucia Rjiker. Never really followed them, but watched some clips of their fights. From all accounts Rjiker was a beast. May watch the odd fight - Katie Taylor. Nicola Adams - if free or on an under card. They are good, but don't see the same level of skill as the world class level male boxers (although Nicola Adams does seem very skilled. Taylor looks physically able to boss more than anything else, yet careless). Maybe it's because they don't have the same power, can be more careless and so haven't developed that "hit and avoid" sublime skillset. That said, not really watched them a lot. Hear Clarissa Shields is good, but not seem her.
Watched my first (and last) woman's boxing match ever just recently. It was Claressa Shields vs Hannah Rankin, and I only watched it out of patriotism, Rankin is Scottish, same as myself. It confirmed what I already knew, woman's boxing isn't for me. I wish they would put the woman's fights on a card of their own so I don't have my boxing enjoyment hijacked. Usually if there's a woman's fight on a card that's on TV, I'll record it and watch it on a slight delay so I can fast forward the women fighting.
Boxing is boxing, if a fight looks good or I like a particular fighter I’ll watch it. Right now I’ll watch Taylor,Shields,Hammer,Braekhaus,Adams and Hardy but there really isn’t enough depth for me to be massively into women’s boxing as a whole just now hopefully these ladies are trailblazers and will inspire women for future generations so there’s some depth within the next few years
I will be honest, its the lack of knock outs, or more so the lack of a threat of a knock out. I know they do happen but they really are few and far between and that threat of a knock out is such a big part of how i enjoy fights. Some of these top girls now have some real skill, Taylor and others that have already been mentioned are the ones who make me just feel like im watching Boxing rather than Women Boxing. I enjoy Womens football now, the quality has just kept on improving from what was by professional levels a bit embarrassing to really good football. My point is given time and commitment Womens Boxing will continue to improve and also fill out in numbers too so the best are not seaching round for competitive fights. But those lack of the threat of a knock out is a bit of a killer. But then saying that when i do see a woman Boxer getting brutally knocked out my natural male reaction is to think looks like shes been told a 2nd time, only kidding, when i see one get KO'd it doesnt seem right.
Women’s sport is only relevant when they are better than the men. Otherwise it’s like the special needs/special education version of the men. They are only better than men at ballet, gymnastics and figure skating because they have better agility than men. I am a fan of none of those sports. Women’s Boxing is a dreadful spectacle and not just because the women are far weaker and less coordinated than the men. It’s also because it’s not pleasant watching women having their faces smashed in.
