    Interesting article about Bob Fitzsimmons.

Everytime, one forgets how really dominate Fitzsimmons was
as a Middleweight, one stumbles across an article that highlights
his enormous power at his natural weight, and then speculation
begins re: who really was the top MW of all time.

His Middleweight record is better than he is often given credit for. Though he might still have a deeper record at heavyweight.

Man, he was just ambling about. Smashing bitches. But his style does seem to have gone through something of a monumental evolution between MW and HW.

pure fiction. he needed 13 rounds to ko a welterweight alcoholic who was dying with consumption…..with 3 ounce gloves. most of the "heavyweights" he beat would be middleweights at best by today Standards and About as skilled as the average bouncer.

to think of him as an all time great Puncher at Heavyweight is pure fiction.

Damn I wasted all this time looking at newspaper reports, what boxers said, and evidence, and it turns out it's all wrong because of some sourceless, contextless, biased, drivel farted out by unitas.

For the record, Fitz dropped Dempsey 13 times in that fight, there's no way a fight progressing similarly would last nearly as long today. Plus the middleweight limit was lower back then, and Dempsey had beaten very good middlweights.

I've never seen a source to suggest he was an "alcoholic who was dying with consumption" by the FItzsimmons fight, I know he was pretty stricken by the Tommy Ryan fight.

From a newspaper report I've seen it was 5oz. gloves so you dind't even get that bit right. Glove size changes how to guard but when tested didn't change much for punching power.

Yeah I'm sure most of them woulf be Middleweights or less.

Their ability vaird, but he beat plenty highly skilled fighters. But I'm sure you know much more about boxing than Joe Gans, Kid McCoy, Jack Johnson, and Gene Tunney

then i think you Need some education: dempey weighed in at 147 and a half...….so basically a welterweight by modern Standards.
he died 4 years later of tubercolosis.

Joe choyniski, a Heavyweight by the Standard of the times, weighed 162 Pounds...…..so basically a middleweight.
just a few FACTS that are available at boxrec. you can look them up yourself.

so i have proven my Point. and for the education: you are welcome.

I never said he wasn't a welterweight, I said the middleweight limit was lower, so him being that weight wasn't as big a deal, plus he nevertheless beat top middleweights. Sugar Ray Robinson was also a welterweight, still an amazing win for a middleweight

    I cited 10 examples, you cited 1.
I don't know if you know this, but 10 is a bigger number than 1.

Not sure if trolling or just stupid.

No I said a couple things were true, it'd be hard to make a post where literally every point was wrong (though I think you could do it), however it was still biased drivel because those few things you got right were stripped of context, and clearly biased to try to make your stupid point
If you think that, you don't even know what trolling means.

Imo, Fitz hits harder than guys like Jeffries, and might've beaten Jeffries if he was younger. Jeffries still called Fitz the most dangerous man he'd ever fought

There was a video on YouTube of Jeffries speaking, but it doesn't seem to be online anymore.
IIRC he said Corbett was the best boxer, but Fitz was the best fighter, and something like "when you went against Bob Fitzsimmons, you knew you were in for a fight"
