I seriously hope he didnt take the Pacquiao fight just so he could retire with a big payday.... http://fighthype.com/pages/content5440.html
I truly hope he doesn't settle for just a paycheck against Pacquaio and instead gives it his best effort to win.
You really are incapable of logical thought aren't you? If he was looking for one more big payday, why would he be so keen for his WBO strap to not be on the line, haggle about the weight and sign a two year extension? What the **** has Cotto done during his career to suggest he wouldn't give it his all? He's fought a hectic schedule and insance comp in his relatively short career. You need to get some perspective mate.
First of all, it is not a good sign when a fighter is already talking about retirement before the biggest fight of his career ala DLH. Cotto says he will fight whoever is put in front of him, but he's already thinking of retiring by age 30? I respect his decision but why say that now, showing weakness and you don't need to give Pacquiao any more motivation going into this fight. PacMan must be thinking "Awesome, another fighter I can put into retirement for certain".
You've picked one example in DLH to base your whole point around. Are you seriously trying to tell me most fighters don't have a point where they'd like to retire by? Pac himself has talked about calling it a day in the near future. It means nothing, you're being over analytical of a fairly tenuous article.
Wow so you want me to list every fighter that has talked about retirement prior to going into a fight and brutally lost? What I'm saying is - why does Cotto need to bring that up before his biggest fight? Take care of business first and then talk about retirement. Boxing is not your typical job. Like the article says, once you start talking about retirement, you have one foot out the door. What I meant by not giving it his best effort is not training himself correctly, not doing what he's supposed to because he already knows he wants to retire. Then again, he has started his light workout a lot earlier than usual so that's a good sign I guess..
Pacman doesn't have to worry much about staying in shape and being ready for a fight.....Cotto does :smoke
Bro...if you TRULY followed Cotto, you would know by now that he's BEEN talking about retiring at 30 since his 140 days. This **** aint new. He has always stated this and I'm sure this article sparked BS interest considering the time frame it's been asked. I mean it clearly worked on your ass. Which makes me laugh and smile harder because I'm sure casual fans and other boxing pundits who didnt know this feel like you do about Cotto's mentality coming into this fight making him a bigger and bigger underdog for a VERY sweet and deserved victory once be beats Pacman.
A cliche that may or may not stand up to scrutiny. If Cotto loses it's far more likely to be because he's faced a better fighter than he is. The wars he's been in and hectic schedule may also play a part.
I know he's been wanting to retire by his 30's. That's nothing new. I'm not gonna keep arguing the same thing over and over but when Atlas talked about Cotto in his last interview, he hit the nail on the head. Cotto doesnt look so confident anymore, doesnt have that fierceness or intensity anymore, and for him to be talking about this now is not good IMO. I don't question him and his heart after his brutal fights but I just feel Cotto is not the same Cotto. You are extremely confident Cotto is going to beat Pacquiao and I hope you are right.
I think cottos always stays in shape and is very disciplined...Unless there's something i didnt know of... Anyway, most fighters nowadays have the mentality to retire at age 30 or early 30's...You cant blame them, this is a brutal sport, they have families and they want to be there for their children...
He parties a lot. He moved his training camp to Tampa because of too many distractions in Puerto Rico. Matter of fact, I have a friend back in Puerto Rico who was in the same club while Cotto was there . I'll see if I can find the picture later (im at work right now) and from what I hear (not very good sources lol) his workout isnt all that great. Either way - Cotto TKO Pac in 10 is my prediction :good
