quick question off topic for you uk guys. how much do sky pay for the average world title bill for uk fighters such as burns and cleverly ?

The Channel won't survive 12 months, but the interesting point is what happens when it does go down the shitter. Fwank has some key Boxers, would Sky welcome him back ?

I do think the Channel is value, but as a expert in online streaming, one thing i found is Boxing fans won't pay for ****, and why would they, no one pays £15 to watch one football game, or £15 to watch Federer vs Nadal.

Boxing is a working class sport, and with that comes working class fans with a working class attitude.

It won't survive, it won't get above 50k subs, but Boxing will go on either way.

    Article was a good read.

Interesting to know what the combined circulation to both Boxing News and Boxing Monthly are.

  4. I kinda see where you are coming from with this.

Fighters will just have to fight for less, or fight in a country where the money is, assuming there is demand for them to fight there.

Boxing has become marginalised since it left terrestrial TV, and will become even more so with the advent of a channel like BN.

I agree with Barlow. The channel wont be around this time next year. No one except hardcore boxing fans know about the channel. I like BoxNation dont get me wrong but I cant see how it will help boxings popularity. Burns-Katsidis should have been a great event but no one except people like us knew about it.

When im saying it won't last, im basing that on the quote they said they need 100,000 subs to break even.

Now given i reckon at most it will hit 50,000, how can it survive ? If somehow it can survive on 50k hits then yes it will last if not it won't be around. That simple really.

For me Fwank should have done a deal with Channel 5 to show weekly live Boxing, and the big cards done via Primetime on PPV. That is smartest move he could have made.

  7. I suppose the idea behind it means that all the money goes to them, rather than Sky determining their cut.

In principle it's a really good idea, but whether it works or not remains to be seen.

The fighters will probably have agreed to take a pay cut in return for more regular work.

I'm a hardcore boxing fan but aint subscribing. I already got sky sports, espn, and I get premier sports when the NRL starts and I just dont see the value in adding another £10 to the bill. I'm happy with what sky give me for boxing and the other stuff I can get via other means and in HD.

There is no way boxnation will get 100,000 subs. Making people sign a minimum 6 month contract will also put people off when they cant even guarantee what quality of fights people will get in those 6 months.

    · Sells around 38,000 copies from newsstands throughout the UK every month

Thats from the boxing news website

In which case you are clearly NOT a hardcore fan. Sky's offering has been middle of the road bollocks for a long time.

There is other ways of watching BoxNation and Boxing in general and I bet you liger05 watches it that way when it isn't on SKY or PremierSports so for you to say he isn't a hardcore fan is just plain stupid.

Boxing needs a worldwide federation/ admin where all the orgs and promoters are sign to....and a more concrete plan for boxing shows is put togeather.

First, before accusing me of being stupid, get your grammar right. "There ARE other ways of watching Box Nation"

Maybe I should have put the whole thing in bold, but to be happy with what Sky have been showing the last few years hardly signs up his credentials.

How can you say someone isn't a hardcore fan just because they won't pay an extra tenner for a poxy Boxing channel which won't work in the long run anyway.

EDIT: Whats your definition of a hardcore Boxing fan?

Another key indicator of how well BoxNation won't work IMO is they have only got 218 fans on Facebook and for a channel to do well, I'd expect them to have more likes than that.
