Meldrick Taylor vs. Howard Davis just came up on WVBA.

Taylor was a 19 year old 1984 Olympic gold medalist on the way up while Howard Davis was the 30 year old 1976 Olympic champion who was on the way down.

The fight ended in a draw and the The Ring magazine cover featured the headline "Stalled at the Crossroads". Taylor was unhappy with the result but moved on while Howard, at least, showed he wasn't quite finished yet.

    Worth checking out.

Funny to note that Taylor moved on and Davis never did get a rematch. When a prospect edges past a fighter, no matter how closely, its very rarely the old pro gets another bite at the same cherry.

Yup, I love that era of boxing. I grew up with it, great fighters with the bonus that the footage from that time is usually in very good condition.
