Henry sadly no longer posts here, but he backed up his opinions with facts. He is an example. https://www.boxingforum.com/fantasy-fights/7595-rocky-marciano-vs-muhammad-ali-8-print.html
Fantasy matchups are always subjective and require more than just average records or number of ranked boxers or HoF-ers met or beaten. I recall an old argument on this forum about Canzoneri-Hatton, where I pointed out that Tony's meetings with aggressive swarmers weren't quite to his liking. But everyone was saying he's an ATG and met/beat all these people, he can't lose to someone like Hatton.
More interesting is how they have lots of threads in boxing history section with only 1 or two posts, but lots (thousands) of views. Still, I wouldn't have objected if we moved fantasy matchups into separate section on this forum. So that I don't have to regularly go back several pages to see this or that interesting recent thread. Out of 30 latest threads this very minute, almost half (14) are about fantasy matchups, plus 2 or 3 threads that don't belong to history section being a discussion of a late fight.
I've thought about that, but I wonder if you'd end up with just less traffic to the history section, and knowledgable posters posting less in fantasy fights. I know some threads allow you to tag threads and filter them, so you could browse only fantasy fights, or filter them out. Not sure if that's possible here, but could be a solution.
Agree with this as I hate fantasy matchup debates, just what if's and not really relevant to learning about boxing history.
