just listened to ariza interviews with fight hype and about the differences in training and outcome in both fights are kind of interesting. In the first one they had maidana come in bigger to overpower and wear floyd out, while he did have success this way he did defintely tire and it allowed floyd to have his best success in the late rounds. In the second fight he came in lighter with a more pateint attack and while floyd won most rounds maidana did probably land the more clean an powerful punches compared to the first fight, especially his shot at the end of round three which was a skillful hurtful shot. floyd was also more actice and made it harder to engage in the second fight, and he didnt really have the level of succes he had late in first fight. Do people think the extra weight lost and more attention to technique be a benefit to maidana in other fights or will t hinder him?
the biggest difference was the ref, not the weights. floyd ran and held excessively as his main defense and got away with it all night. Without the holding he would have had a rough fight and could have been in deep trouble since maidana boxed with him quite well at times. but we'll never know cos bayless was protecting floyd and made it horrible to watch.
yeah thats another factor, i think he might have done better too than the first fight, people assume extra weight is always a massive advantage
Floyd and Maidana are both the same size. Floyd just weight less because he has a baby dick and no balls. If it was really true that Black guys are huge Floyd would be 160+ on fight night like Maidana.
Still relying on that one punch? but refused to see floyd hurt him badly with that monstorous body punch, that had him in serious trouble? one, must be even handed fool!!
if floyd ran then give him credit for the first fight, he did as he said and stood and fought. In the 2nd he 'ran' and won way easier, give him props for doing what he said in the first fight??
I thought floyd looked more vulnerable in the 2nd fight. Referee played too much of a role in the 2nd fight and would of been more interesting if the ref would of been fair. Not trying to sound like I'm saying chino would of won but he would have been a bigger threat to floyd.
It wasn't Maidana's physique that let him down in either fight. It was his game plan and mental capacity to adjust. I thought the game plan in the first fight was solid to start but he just got carried away and completely blew his load in one round.
Marcos was never going beat Floyd...his only chance was a shock KO...but the gloves made sure that possibility was reduced...lol Floyd still looked like **** though starting to slip & was too fearful of Maidana's power throughout both fights & put on edge by his awkwardness.
Have'nt seen the rematch, but I cant imagine Maidana having done better than he did the first fight. From the highlights on youtube I did see, looks like Mayweather proved Freddie Roach wrong that his legs are shot as the highlights indicate to me that Mayweather used those legs to move and make sure he was'nt a stationary target for Maidana.
Interesting comparison two fights where both guys approaches totally changed Maidana had a lot of success early in fight one Is it possible he had Floyd more buzzed than it appeared Also the cut helped Maidana early but didn't re appear I diddnt mind the 115-112 or 116-111 score I think Floyd's inactivity cost him some rounds Had the ref let Maidana brawl in 2 more rounds it's possibly a real close fight
