http://floyd-mayweather-news.newslib.com/story/4925-3154924/ Said in response to Shane Mosley. So if thats the case, why the uproar over drug testing by Floyd? If speed, strength and power are not enough to beat Floyd in his opinion, why the steroid allegations? I guess by Floyd's twisted logic, PEDS managed to enhance Manny's ring IQ and skillset. If physicality plays no part in beating him, why start a new drug testing policy at the tail end of a negotiation? It couldn't be because he was terrified of a former featherweight who he thinks is on HGH is it?:-(( Oh..........I get it now, Floyds trying to clean up boxing Floyd has some funny contradictions
Well, you can see the man thinking and timing his opponents. He does it in every match. I would never claim he was a dumb boxer.
As a technical boxer Floyd is a genius, but his contradictions make him look quite the opposite, or a liar depending on how you look it.
Well he is a complete moron and should never be allowed to speak in public. I totally agree on that. He is a walking contradiction and a hypocritical idiot, but he boxes very well.
He's got your attention. So whether it's contradictions or a matter of you not understanding his points(because you dislike him) his talking makes people listen. Hate him or love him most boxing fans want to know what's up with him. For those who don't like him, just step back and look at how much you mention him. Any thread with his name on it, you guys are all over it.
You're taking it out of context. What he means (I'm assuming) is there's a difference between natural strength and strength gained from PEDs. In other words, he can beat a great human being but he doesn't stand a chance against Superman. Boxing is a game of inches. If you allow your opponent to have even the slightest advantage, it could be the difference in a fight. Floyd has more to lose than Pac does. If Floyd loses, his 0 is gone and he will get shamed on for getting beaten by a smaller man. If Pac loses, he's still a media darling and it won't hinder him from getting into the HOF.
I think it's a great quote. I don't know what context it was taken from, but the in the context of the quote itself, PED's certainly weren't the first thing to enter my mind.
“Everybody always says they have a remedy,” he said. “Everybody always says, ‘Oh, I hit hard, I’m fast, I’m strong.’ I only have one thing to say -- they’re not as smart as me.” I can't comment on your PED angle. But I will say this about PBF's comment. There is a difference between someone saying the above and actually possessing the talent. Corrales - Puncher with no hand or foot speed and who gives up height and prefers to fight inside. Castillo - Pressure fighter with solid punch, but with no hand or foot speed, and who also gives up height because he tends to crouch to duck under punches and who prefers to fight on inside. Hatton - Pressure fighter with average punch, decent foot speed and hand speed, but lacks durability, and has below average defense. Shorter reach and height. Judah - Counter puncher, Excellent foot and hand speed, good puncher, but lacks stamina, durability, and consistency. His physical attributes far outweigh is actual BOXING SKILLS. Case in point Judah's biggest win is over Spinks. He has lost to every other top fighter he has fought, and has losses to Journeyman level fighters, as well as near losses. DLH - Boxer Puncher, Height advantage, about equal reach. But DLH at the TIME THEY FOUGHT was OLD. Put in a fight tape of DLH's against Pernell or Quartey or Tito. The DLH that fought PBF is OLD, just has decent hand speed, has slow feet, poor stamina, fighting part time, and had no real snap on his punches. He was an old guy stuck in the mud. Now Mosley.....older guy but fighting still at the elite level, stays in shape all year long, has damn near equal hand speed, solid foot speed, slight reach and height advantage, very good stamina, ELITE chin, solid defense, larger and stronger fighter, no signs of decline in his durability. And is CURRENTLY a better fighter than anyone on the list above at the time PBF fought them. This time we will get to see if that statement of PBF's holds true. Shane is no slow handed, slow footed, short, or merely part time fighter. Floyd either answers his critics or gives his detractors the smoking gun.
