Interesting quote from Lennox Lewis

I've said this before and I'll said it again. Lewis legitimately beat Vitali Klitschko. No ifs no buts. It wasn't a robbery or a rubbish decision. Lewis threw the punches at Vitali that caused the cut and that caused him to be stopped. It's as simple as that. If you break apart someone's face with your blows and they cannot continue it is exactly the same principle as knocking them unconscious. You land a punch or punches, their body gives up, and they cannot continue. There is NO difference.

I marvel at the hate on these forums. So much bias. The same people who hate on Lewis for beating Vitali by cuts will defend his victory over Solis as he damaged his knee. It's ludicrous, and a double standard. Lewis's victory over Vitali was just as valid as Vitali's over Solis. Or any cut or injury stoppage for that matter. Do people bring up Ali's victory over Cooper on cuts after Ali was put onto la la land by a left hook? No. Why? Because it doesn't need to be brought up. It was a legitimate win, just as Lewis's was and just as Vitali's was this last weekend.

 

You really can't distiquish between legacy and prime can you? I don't really know how to make the difference any clearer than I already have.

Based on what..who needed the most stitches..Vitali looked like he was hit by a truck for f_sakes.

 

There will always be someone calling you out if you are the champion.

There's always a reason to take one more fight.

Lennox got out at the right time. He wasn't at his best anymore and wasn't motivated. He had more than enough dough and had beaten everyone worth fighting in the division.

If you'd rather he just carried on like Roy Jones until he got beat so badly it damaged his legacy and his brain then you're a *****.

Lewis had a pretty awesome record when it came to rematches and Im sure would have come out in shape and more ready than the first fight. Lewis was more experienced and had been in with some heavyweight legends. Vitali would've got beaten up in the rematch in my opinion. Lewis was never worn down and knocked out by anyone. He was too clever for that and it is Vitali's speciality.

Dont get me wrong. At the tail end of his career, Vitali was a hard fight for Lewis but Lennox did the sensible thing and called it a day.

In many ways Lewis' biggest triumph over Klitschko was the fact he never fought him again.
It robbed Vitali of the biggest fight he could have ever had (and won) in his career.

It was Lewis who ruined Vitali!

Since when? I don't think anyone is arguing it wasn't a legit punch? What is that by the way? A punch is a punch. You obviously have COMPLETELY ignored my point and have no rational argument. It was a punch that caused the cut, and Vitali was stopped because of it. It doesn't get more legit than that. Stop grasping at straws.
