I see you ignored my completely factual post and posted more spin.

Answer me this - if Calslappy is so great why does he need a 43 year old Hopkins at this point in his career? Tyson got criticised for fighting Larry Holmes when Holmes was 5 years younger than Hopkins is now, and that victory for Tyson is still considered meaningless. Is boxing in such a **** state that Calzaghe beating Hopkins elevates him all that much?

The amusing thing is you can't write Hopkins off in this one, whereas everyone knew Holmes had no chance.

He doesn't "need", he "wants", because as he said himself, it'll look good on his CV. Money is a factor too.

Yes but Joe has 'wanted' a fair few fighters in his time, Jones springs immediately to mind but Joe wisely gave him a wide berth, instead hiding behind WBO mandatory defences claiming he didn't want to lose his title by moving up :patsch

All of a sudden Hopkins is 43 years old and looking bad in his last couple of fights and Joe decides he 'wants' the fight?

Is it just me that can see what an utter **** this man really is? Don't get me wrong I expect him to beat Hopkins at this stage but damn, Calzaghes whole career has been built up with **** like this. I'd give him FAR more respect for fighting Taylor right now than old Bernard.

Which is not my point. At all. I posted this because someone said the crowd were laughing at Joe.

Funny how you claim he avoided Jones and I heard it's the other way round?

Joe and Hops were supposed to fight 5 or 6 years ago, and Hops priced himself out by about 3 million. This is common knowledge.

So you posted a link that was obviously filmed by someone from the UK, in the UK section of the audience?

That was my point. I'd love to see some of those fat ****ers facing Hopkins down and calling him a wanker to his face....

    You claim Jones avoided Calzaghe?

Oh please post proof to this, I'd just love to see it. Jones would have put Calzaghe into the middle of next week, even on his worst day. Mentioning the two of them in the same sentence is actually a mortal sin.

OK Hopkins priced himself out of a Calzaghe fight, fair enough. Now lets talk Glen Johnson....(Joe was upset, his wife was being horrible....)

2nd time the fight was talked about....Joe's got a bad back, he's always suffered with his back you know....it's got this yellow streak and he just can't shake it off :deal

Firstly - Can you prove that Hopkins ran away in 2002? Remember he may have been going through a bad divorce, or might even have had the odd twinge from the lumbar area....be careful what you say now

Yes Taylor might be over-rated....why doesn't Joe go after him instead? If Taylor wins the rematch with Pavlik that is the OBVIOUS fight for Calzaghe - if Joe goes for that rather than Hopkins believe me I'll start giving Joe respect. Lets wait and see but Joes history isn't really good when it comes to taking on 'real' challenges now is it?

Jones was constantly questioned during the 90's for ducking people? Name them? You might come up with Dariusz and maybe Benn and Eubank but I've read the books of those two and neither one of them wanted to fight Jones, take that much to the bank. Who else did he avoid?

Oh yeah Hopkins avoided Jones during his 20 fight winning streak, Jones was 2 weights higher than Hopkins all that time for Gods sake - that's like saying Calzaghe avoided Maccarinelli or Winky Wright :patsch

That's all pointless stuff because we will never know all the details and what really went down. Almost a waste of time even discussing it. I do know that if you're ****ed up mentally you won't perform at your best, so whatever Joe was going through with his wife could have a serious effect of the outcome of his career. Is it worth it? I don't think so. Mental preparation is important. Joe Calzaghe isn't a robot, and without knowing the details it's not our right to discuss another man's marriage / divorce on a public forum.

PS: I don't have "proof" of Jones avoiding Joe. Do you have proof that he didn't?

It's almost pointless responding to your drivel, but...

Floyd ranks Bernard as the #2 p4p.

And ring has him in their rankings at #5.

All I can tell you is that Ali won the Thrilla in Manilla when his personal life was in turmoil, Pernell Whittakers entire career happened during emotional turmoil, same goes for Ray Leonard and the same goes for Roberto Duran. Calzaghe pulled out of a fight because he was getting divorced, OK I understand that and respect that - but he pulled out of the same fight again claiming back injury, said that Johnson would get his shot and then hid behind a WBO mandatory bum rather than face Johnson - this is what disgusted Johnson more than anything, do a google search if you don't believe me.

I don't have 'proof' that Calzaghe ducked Jones, but after the Johnson fiasco I'd take it as read that Joe didn't want no part of Roy at that time - even though Roy was past his best he'd have ****ed Calzaghe up just like he did Clinton Woods, it would have been a mis-match.

'Proof' will come when Calzaghe has the nuts to step up and fight Woods....will he destroy him like Jones did? I very much doubt it.
