Tommy Brooks makes some interesting claims here, he says Tyson only trained 2 weeks for Holyfield 1 (note: brooks was in holyfields corner for the tyson fights) and that even now(now being 2002) tyson still has "more talent in his little finger than most all the rest of them" and that Tyson would not train for Lewis and just try to take his best shot on raw ability.

He simply didnt put in the effort in alot of fights and got away with it because of his talent but it doesnt work against the real elites. He has no one to blame but himself.
Im sorry i dont buy the Don King excuse. Don king ripped him off and so did robin givens but neither one kept him from training.

Tyson probably fired Brooks because he expected tyson to put in more than 2 weeks of training for a HW championship fight.

Comical and sad at the same time.

It was a weakness in his game. Any weakness in anybodies game can be exploited & cause defeat.

Mike was only fighting to pay his bills at that point. He likely had no drive or desire to train the way he should have for the Lewis debacle.

How does Brooks know Tyson only trained for 2 weeks if he wasn't even in his corner......

Spies in the other camp. Tyson didnt exactly run a tight ship with the entire circus he surrounded himself with.
He has no reason to lie after having been fired and having openly stated that he regrets leaving holyfield to work with tyson

I say bull****, no way Tyson would get into that condition with only 2 weeks of training. Don't believe everything you hear, you've got to use a bit of common sense. No way in hell did Tyson train 2 weeks for Holyfield.

He had a fight 2 months before that against seldon
He most likely knew that he would fight again in september but still he came in at the heaviest weight of his career, and to me looked softer and carried more fat than i had ever seen him before.

In the rematch, regardless of its outcome, tyson also proved that he could get in a lot better condition than he was in the first fight, where he gassed out quicker than he did vs douglas.

If Tyson looked the fattest he ever looked in the first fight and in the rematch he looks the most ripped he ever looked, how could he have been in great condition in the first fight????

Again its what tommy brooks said and he has no reason to lie after hes been fired.
But you dont give tyson the benefit of the doubt in anything or any way at all. So its not surprising that you dont believe anything that doesnt fit into your preconceived narrative. Even if it comes from credible sources or even Holyfield himself. Quote "he looked alot fitter than the first time"(becoming holyfield, chapter 14 the strange part)

Jesus Christ, you're bringing up fights where he weighed a whopping 3lb lighter? He was hardly overweight or out of shape, hell he was less than 1lb heavier than when he won the title against Berbick ffs! Talk about clutching at straws, Holyfield showed in both fights he had Tyson's number end of story.

You're the one clutching at straws if you think tyson was in condition for the first fight. Yes holyfield had his number more so than any other HW in hat era, ive never disputed that.

Tell me did tyson not look the fattest he had ever looked before in the ring in the first fight? Was he not at his heaviest weight ever?
Was he not the most ripped we had seen him in the ring,or pretty close to it, in the second fight?
How could he have been in condtion the first time then?
Youre the one refuting tommy brooks' claims that tyson wasnt in shape

So you think he was overweight and out of shape? So against Berbick he was less than 1lb lighter and in peak condition and ripped to the bone?

Tyson would have trained his ass off for Holyfield because he knew how good Evander was, if you want to believe he trained for 2 weeks then you crack on pal.

Sure he did the second time, but i think he just like everyone else thoght holyfied was shot.
Again let me ask you a simple question.
have you seen tyson look softer and fatter in the ring before?

If he trained his ass off how did he manage to gain 3 pounds in the 8 weeks between the 2 fights?

If he trained his ass off the first time how did he manage to look much better the second time, regardles of whether or not he lost again?

    Was his diet that bad?

Or maybe....JUST MAYBE tommy brooks isnt lying when he said he barely trained and evander holyfield is not lying when they said his conditioning was much betterrin the rematch.

Tyson was a headcase with no control of his life, whats so hard to believe about him not training hard for Holyfield...who was believed to be shot and a 20 something to 1 underdog, when he couldnt even make himself get in shape to challenge the reigning HW champion Lennox Lewis who was a 3 to 1 favorite to beat him? Are you going to argue he trained his ass off for Lewis? Weighing 235 pounds? All you gotta do is look at his weight and conditoning for golota (222) and etienne(225) to disprove that.

I see you have no answer for my Berbick example, the fact is Tyson was barely heavier in 1986 when he defeated Berbick for the title, this is a fact.

Tyson looked like normal, he was neither overweight nor out of shape. I know the long list of excuses always appears after a loss for Tyson but sometimes it's best to step back and have a good think for yourself.

Again let me ask you this simple question, was Tyson out of shape for the Berbick fight as well as he was barely lighter?

Probably not, but he looked in much better shape than for Holyfield. Infact he looked in better shape for douglas than for holyfield.
He supposedly had gonorrhea against berbick.
Tyson won plenty of fights he didnt train well for.

Now why dont you answer my questions.
Why would holyfield and brooks lie?
