Its incredible that some people thinks realy that fighter like povetkin or other in this Era to compare with mike tyson ??? what a big joke Tyson was a incredible Boxer he was very fast with great skills and incredible power in both hands a prime tyson would send any version of wlad with one left brutal hook or power punch in koma tyson was a beast in infight !!! and clinching would not help wlad with Mike Tyson thats sure.

The Tyson myth is beyond ridiculous. He was destroyed twice by a cruiserweight.

 

The point is that Lennox Lewis beat Tyson fairly easily using the the same Manny Stewart taught tactics that Wlad uses. I kinow it wasn't 'prime' Tyson (ie when he was fighting mainly B level opponents) but that wasn't what the TS was asking. I think the question is valid.

 

^^The different is lewis didn't hold Tyson a lot since the start of the 5th round to the 8th which lewis tko Tyson in that round. Remember the ref deduct a point away of lewis in the 4th round I believe. It took the ref in the wlad vs povetkin fight up to the 11th round to finally deduct a point away from wlad.

Indeed. I didn't say that I agreed with the TSs assertion, merely that the question was a reasonable one. Yeah, had the ref deducted Wlad early for preventing Sasha from fighting (the 11th Rnd deduction was for summin else I think), we might have seen a different fight. Anyways Lewis certainly tired and demoralised Tyson in those early rounds then just jabbed him to death (as I think Wlad woulda done to Sasha if he'd been forced to).

The version of Tyson who fought Lennox was about a decade past his prime. Comparing him to Povetkin is fair.

If anything, Povetkin was probably better than a totally shot Tyson.
