Had an interspar recently, for people who don't know what that is its 3x2min rounds but with bigger gloves and not 100% power due to no medical staff. Lots of (reasonable) excuses for this but whatever really not happy with my performance but was good fun anyway. I'm the one in the vest (1 fight) up against a guy with no bouts but a decent amount of experience. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rPXaHN0BxRk[/ame] Any thoughts. Apart from my hands down which was due to fitness. I felt my jab when I used it and my left uppercut were decent but underused and I left my hands out after shots which led to me getting tied up on the inside. This is judge on rounds and I lost wasn't unhappy with the decision but never felt like any of his shots landed cleanly on me.
OK now we know your positives --- foot work is good you don't bounce about to much,,you held the middle of the ring OK,,, your negatives --- when you hold your guard up you drop your head ,this was giving blue vest chance to throw combinations,,,,,,,you throw to many single jabs, try doubling or tripling your jab this may give you change to connect more,,,when he rushed you, which then pushed you back you just froze you need to hit him on the way in maybe a straight right ,this will give you chance to move left or right of the ropes over all OK,,,,sorry you lost in my eyes ,he as the first 2 rounds will give you the last round :bbb
Like tucking my head into my guard rather than bringing my guard up to my head? Like I said no excuses but I didnt get a chance to train before which is why my work rate was so poor, usually I try to throw a lot especially body shots. Yeah I do that quite often what should I try and do instead once they're close? I kind of plant my feet and let my arms and gloves take the shots but it looks bad and means I can't fire back. Yeah I had no qualms with the result although I felt like I would be able to handle the guy if I fought intelligently and was in shape. Cheers for the feedback I don't have a regular trainer due to the way I train.
a couple of things to work on,,,,use the jab alot more on the bags to get used to throwing it ,,just use the jab for a full round if you have to ,,but get used to throwing it ,,,the jab will get you out of trouble & give you openings for combinations ,,sometimes you have to take a shot to get a hit also on the bag lean on the bag & throw hooks & upper cuts ,,this will get you used to your opponent pushing you back to the ropes ,,if there close you don't need to see them to hit them but practice looking just over the top of your guard
