Not really new, but some confirmation:

"If Pavlik wins, he will face IBF super middleweight champion Lucian Bute on Nov. 5 in Montreal."

" I think if we go over to Canada and knock out Bute or, by some miracle, get a decision up there, which is going to be hard, I think that puts us back on top again."

The miracle he's referring to must be ~Pavlik winning more rounds than Bute~

Money wise it always made the most sense. I don't get to read as much about boxing as I used to so I wasn't 100% sure that this had ever been cleared up. That's why I posted this. Well, that and to link to the article for those that cared to read it.

There was something in there that made it sound like Jack was hedging a little on Kelly. It is hard to say from a printed article but I got the impression that Jack believes Kelly can come back IF Kelly stays 100% committed. It was kind of a subtle thing and I might have read too much into it but I think Jack (well all of Kelly's supporters) have been burned on Kelly's lack of commitment/discipline before.

easier for a foreign fighter to win a decision in Montreal than in the USA.

Calzaghe dominated and Hopkins hardly threw a punch after round 3... so not a good example.

In my opinion the "It's all on Kelly" comments were a reference to living and training in Youngstown. Top Rank and Cameron Dunkin have been trying to get rid of Leow from day one. Kelly has stood firmly with Jack the whole time even though Jack has publicly stated that he would quietly step aside if KP ever asked him to.

The bull**** in the press and especially on ESB started after the Hopkins fight. It was crucial for Pavlik to "double the ****ing jab" in that fight. Kelly never even tried to do that. Consequently he ate counter-rights all night long.

Jack Leow is a solid trainer who gives KP good instructions. However, you can list examples on ESB for days on end, and People will continue to ignore historical facts so they can have someone to despise. Somehow it makes their pathetic little lives seem larger and less pathetic as they type away behind the protection of anonymity.

I listened to the BBC for that fight. As I recall they all had the same score card and it was the same as the one by the single official judge that gave it to Hopkins. So... Yeah, good enough.

Like I said. Hard to tell from the printed interview but I just came away with that impression. Jack is very much a team player and committed to Kelly. He has had to bite his tongue in the past and take heat over what turned out to be Kelly's short comings. Kelly is a hometown kid and proud of it, but he has to realize when you rely on the public for your lively hood there are expectations. How do you think people feel after traveling to see him in AC against Martinez only to find out he was in rehab instead of training and not getting the weight off? Some of us believe the middle rounds clearly showed he could have won that fight if he had been 100% focused.

That said, I have tickets to his next fight and will probably make the effort to go to Montreal. Hell, just spending some time with Pipe will make that trip worthwhile. :D
