    If he's gonna fight in the US, I hope they bring the Japanese commentators as well! I may not understand what they're saying but damn, they're so enthusiastic is still much more fun listening to them than it is listening to the HBO commentators...

    Hasegawa Hozumi vs. Eric Morel on December 18!

    Hozumi will fight Puerto Rico's two-division former champion Eric Morel on December 18, at Kobe's World Memorial Hall. This is the much expected step-up from Hozumi's recent oppostition and a chance to shine if he can come out on top.

    Therefore I'm asking US/international TV executives, if you read this (lol), have a look at Hozumi's latest fights and pick up this great match-up! Hasegawa should become a well-known name around the globe, and he has a pretty hard task ahead to make a point for a Top10 P4P ranking if he can come through as the winner.

    Hasegawa needs to get on a ****ing plane if he wants to be on television in the United States, and they should have done it before he stepped up because that's when Ko's tend to dry up.

    For the record, I don't think they will with this guy. He's corrected his balance and he looks like he has the goods to me.

    Best bantamweight out there. He wont fight Agbeko as Japan only recognise the WBA and WBC, not IBF and WBO. Anselmo Moreno is who he should fight.

    I've been singing this guys praises for a while. His power has really improved of late, and it's about time he got a break like this against a name opponent.

    Hozumi is a great bantamwieght but if he steps up to 122 he is going to find it way more competitive.

    Hasegawa's 10th title defense on Friday!

    Hozumi is fighting Nicaraguan puncher Alvaro Perez (18-1, 12KOs) in Kobe on Friday. This will be Hasegawa's 10th world title defense and most likely his last fight at bantamweight as he plans to move up to 122 where he could either face the great Thai Poonsawat, or fellow countryman Nishioka Toshiaki in pretty much the biggest fight in Asia in recent years. First things first however, Hozumi wants to end his BW reign with a bang and looks for another possible 1st round knockout after blowing away Vusi Malinga and Nestor Rocha in the opener earlier this year. Originally he was to face Eric Morel, but the Puerto Rican opted to fight Gerry Penalosa instead, and who can blame him. Perez on the other hand is looking to go 12 and spoil the show and bring back the title to his home country. Shame that US/international media and TV completely ignore this great fighter, but what can you do. Open this thread for example.

    I've thought for a while that Nishioka is the obvious fight (both Japanese, both WBC champs in close divisions) but personally I feel Hasegawa should try and establish superiority in what is a pretty good division at the moment.

    Perez first, then Donaire or Montiel. Unless he's struggling with the weight, although he doesn't appear to be.

    He's found his punching form now, and his shots are much more effective now. I certainly don't think he's a Linares-level fighter; Hasegawa has the goods to be a highly-regarded Bantam IMO:good

    hozumi has the tools. but if his management in japan keeps him feeding 'mandatory' challengers and not risking him to get the **** out of his comfort zone once in a while (las vegas, baby) then he'll just be remembered for fighting b class opposition in his entire career --in his home turf
