I pick Andries. I am not sure why. He was a strong guy,,, at 175.. Had clubbing punches and had a decent jab. The odds would favor Barkley I think, but I think Andries wins this one.
I think Dennis could do it ,though he'd probably hit the deck a few times .The guy had plenty of heart. He was no keyboard warrior sitting on the side line's shouting abuse but never contributing a fig .He was a man s man .
Pre Emanuel Steward I'd take Barkley, Andries was simply an indisciplined, crude plodder in those days. After his beating by Hearns Steward took him on and transformed him into a very respectable and rounded fighter. I'd take this version to beat Barkley.
I remember it well , saw a few of Dennis s fight s pre Hearns , strong , game but limited. Steward did a very Good job with him in my opinion. Think he was the first Brit fighter to win same title 3 times , though don't quote me .
Andries had an underrated punch. That is why he was successful. When he had to, he had the power to keep guys off of him. Wide punches but very hard.. He actually rocked Hearns in round 2.
Yep , Dennis was a strong guy .I recall seeing a preview of the Hearns fight , and it actually said that Tommy may be to frail for the stocky Andries and he'd be no match for him .Well obviously that wasn't the case but it shows the point of Dennis being a strong fella .
Despite Barkley beating Hearns at LHW this wasn't Barkley at his best weight. Dennis Andres was a hard man . His clubbing right hands would bludgeon Barkley in 7 rds.
