Wow...that's a positively Zen statement right there. Unusual for this or any other boxing site. Well done, sir. :hail
English born but Irish blood....lots of the recent Irish that moved the uk have children born there but class there kids as Irish.Still grab the British passport as it's much easier to get work and have a bank account just in case our country f..ks up again.....Tyson himself sees himself as Irish though I'm not too sure that many know him over here.

Funny though, if he wasn't a potential world champion, he'd just be another Irish traveller to you Brits. :-(
The Irish claim the Irish The Welsh claim the Welsh The Scots claim the Scots The English claim everybody.
Well for a fighter of moderate ability and a dodgy chin to get where he is,then you're right Ireland should be proud of him.
In 2008, the IABA refused to allow Tyson Fury to fight in the senior Irish Amateur boxing championships after he could offer no proof (birth certificates, family tree etc...) that he had any immediate connection to Ireland. Fury, who had previously represented England as an amateur, lost in the ABA's to David Price so he couldn't represent GB in the 2008 Olympics. So he then tried his luck with the Irish Amateur championships. He was able to fight for the Irish Heavyweight title as a pro after Andy Lee signed a document vouching for Tyson Fury. Make of that what you will, but Tyson is a popular draw in Belfast as he claims to have family in the North. Final point I would say it shouldn't really matter that much where the guy is from or his background. If by some minor miracle he beats Wlad, everyone will be claiming he's British or Irish or Martian anyway lol!
