Except he doesn't have an English parent. Just two Irish Traveller parents. He doesn't claim to be English in that tweet. Tyson Fury on the British title. Word.
His parents are born & raised in England, as was he. That means he now has English blood as well as his grand (possibly great grand) parents Irish blood. He, like many, claim both. It's a fact that he is both an English & Irish citizen, coupled with the fact he has both English and Irish blood in him. There isn't really an argument to be had, since it's just a fact. If anything he wants to claim he is a traveler over any nationality, as that implies / refers to how his family has moved about around Britain over the generations.
No it doesn't. What kind of absurd cultural marxism is this? No that's not a fact. Legally he's a British citizen, a mere legal term. Ethnically he's 100% Irish traveller and recognised as such by the ONS. http://www.ons.gov.uk/ons/index.html No. Irish traveller is an ethnic group and recognised as such by the British government. http://www.ons.gov.uk/ons/index.html
Ethnicity is just culture or tradition. If someone declares themselves "Irish traveller", that's up to them. They don't have to prove anything, it's self-identity. It doesn't mean they cannot claim English as well. English can mean born and raised in England. That's how most people use it. If you lived in England your whole life you can definitely be called English.
Blood lines develop, there's nothing absurd about it at all. When a family moves somewhere and expands, the blood line begins to change, meaning when Tyson's family moved over to England, raised his parents that went on to raise him, all in England, it's the early stage of an English blood line. It's like claiming we're all African because our blood line goes back there. It's possible to be both and Tyson is, I get it though, you wish he was just Irish not English/Irish, and this is from someone who has English/Irish blood myself, but those are the facts. I've got to come away now but all the best was interesting reading your unconventional approach on the whole thing :thumbsup
Both Parents Irish. One from Galway and another from Antrim. Lived in Ireland as a boy. Regularly breaks into many an Irish jig (sometimes during actual fights) Raised in a strict Irish culture his entire life. Can trace his Irish ancestry back to the dawn of time. Is a Fury. Had a lot of his biggest fights in Ireland. Cousin of the pro IRA Irish folk group 'The Furey brothers' and Irish World champion Andy Lee. Likes a pint in Cricklewood. Fought for Ireland as an AM fighter. Always fights in Irish shorts. Won the Irish HW champion belt and then proclaimed after throwing Brit belt in the bin. But bizarrely in cultural marxism world is somehow an 'Englishman'. :verysad
Those Neolithic people were not "Irish", they came long before Celts and Gaelic culture and language arrived in that place we now call Ireland. Are you sure Tyson Fury can trace his ancestry back that far ?
Yes I'm aware of that. Fury is a brown eyed Irishman, thus yes indeed. He does have pre Celt Native DNA. http://static.guim.co.uk/sys-images...al/2015/4/26/1430057859258/Tyson-Fury-009.jpg :deal
Ok these are the things I know are factually incorrect: 1) Neither of his parents had any documentary proof (i.e. birth certificates) they were born anywhere in Ireland, hence he could not box for Ireland at the 2008 Olympic qualifiers. 2) He fought for England as an Amateur. Look at the results for 2006 World Youth Championships and you'll note Tyson represented England.* As has been pointed out, he was more than happy to box in the English ABA's and would have represented GB in the 2008 Olympics (if he qualified) if Price didn't beat him. * I can't post links yet but if you google the results you'll clearly see he represented England.
