I know this is the British forum, but **** it ye took over our count....nevermind:D

Anyways, basically most Irish posts on this site come here because we have a keen interest or lack of interest in certain fighters this side of the water!

So Ireland sent 5 boxers to China, all doing very well so far!
Paddy Barnes, Kenny Egan, John Joe Joyce, John Joe Nevin and Darren Sutherland

JJ Joyce got knocked out today, an 11-11 draw but lost on ****in countback. Heard he was hard done by!

I haven't seen much due to work, but who has impressed you and has any of them a real chance of a medal? Egan maybe?

The holding in Joyce's fight was ****ing ridiculous. And again, couple of decent bodyshots not registering. He should have won that.

I saw Egan this morning, he looked decent. Who do you think might pick up a medal?

He wasnt at the top of his game today, he let two rounds slip by before adapting

Egan or Nevin but Egan obviously cause he has one fight to win before hes in a semi!

Nevin is quality imo, think he has a hard draw though

Same way we can't watch their BBC links to the Olympics.
Nevin's route will unfortunately probably end tomorrow, there is a good chance that the Mongolian is the strongest fighter left at Bantamweight. A different route and Nevin may very well have medalled. If he pulls it off tomorrow it would be something special.

Egan has a great chance of a medal now, I actually think he'll make the final now.

Sutherland is in with a chance but will have his work cut out trying to reverse Blanco.

I'm not too hopeful with Barnes.

Young Nevin beaten, good effort though.

Britain includes Ireland so feel free to post about your guys on here. Egan looked pretty decent even though he went down from a soft punch, he could pull off a medal and should beat Tony although Egan has never had a great chin.

Was Joyce that pudding who did nothing but hold whilst the other guy was trying to fight?

That's about as factual as saying Ireland includes Britain but thanks for being so inclusive anyway.

Big day tomorrow with both Barnes and Sutherland fighting the last 16.
I reckon a win for Sutherland and a loss for Barnes.
