Sounds good to me. Booth would be a reasonable first opponent for a comeback from Bernard.:good

Not going to happen, Maludrottu is ranked ahead of Dunne(which is ridiculous, but that's how the politics of this sport work) and he'll be the one to get a fight with Booth.

Maloney will probably manage to get Victor Terrazas over to the UK for his eliminator with Munroe. Might cost him more than he'd want but I doubt he'd risk letting Munroe go to Mexico and possibly spoil his chance to make a bit of cash as Nishioka's mandatory.

Peters could of course pay Maludrottu's side some step aside money and first chance at Dunne should he win, but I doubt he'd go to the bother considering we don't know if Bernard is even continuing at the moment, or what weight he'll fight at.

    Your right it is ridiculous.
If he does come back, who do you see him facing? It's a tough balancing act finding an opponent good enough to be credible but also not too dangerous. I'd hate to see him just going through the motions against some stiff but the confidence will have to be worked on big time after Poonsawat.

    Duddy snubs Odyssey bout

John Duddy has turned down the chance to top the Odyssey Arena against Neil Sinclair and will instead box tough Mexican Michael Medina on March 13.

Duddy will be part of the HBO coverage from the Dallas Cowboys Stadium where the world's top fighter Manny Pacquaio tops the bill against Joshua Clottey.

It is understood that promoter Frank Warren not only made an offer for Duddy to face Sinclair in Belfast but also in Dallas but the Derry man's camp declined. It now seems likely that Sinclair will compete in the light-middleweight Prizefighter event next month.

While Medina, 28 wins and one defeat, has boxed mainly as a light-middleweight, Duddy's manager Craig Hamilton expects him to be a step up from his most recent victim, Juan Astorga who was stopped inside two minutes 10 days ago in New York.
Hamilton said: “This is a great opportunity for John. It's a great stage for him to show people that he is a genuine world title contender. Millions around the world are going to be watching this show. We considered the offer from Frank Warren to fight Sinclair in Belfast but this made more sense. He's getting more money and it's a major show.
“John showed in the last fight that he is back to the way he was and after having a few days off he'll be back in the gym Monday for what should be a good test.
“Medina is a step up in class from the last fight. He's got a good record of 28 wins and one defeat and I expect him to hang around a lot longer though obviously I expect John to win.
“John has told me to get whoever I want and he'll knock them down. Hopefully he wins and then he'll be out again in New York in June on the Miguel Cotto World title bill.

“It looks like John is on a roll again and I believe that I can get him to where he wants to be this year and that's fighting for the World title.”
Meanwhile, the man who inflicted Duddy's sole defeat, American Billy Lyell was stopped in the 10th by IBF middleweight champion Sebastian Sylvester in Germany on Saturday night.

He can't come back against Booth. Booth is arguably in the form of his life and Bernard is bound to have a few mental scars after the Poonsawat fight. He'd need two tune up fights in my estimation. Let Booth and Maludrottu scrap it out for the EBU (presuming Booth beats Marsh because a loss might affect his next move) and in the meantime get in two mid level Euro opponents before taking on the EBU champion sometime next year.

Last I heard Bernard was back training but not doing camp work like the stuff he went through for Cordoba and Poonsawat. If he wants to get the most out of himself he needs to still do the really hard grinding work that McGurn and co set out for him. I'd hate to see him comeback and think he can cut corners because hes back to Euro level.

The lad I was talking to seems to think Bernard really doesn't know for sure what he wants to do. He reckons he'll be back but he thinks he's not as in love with it all as he was before. Whether thats a bit of a general malaise post Poonsawat or a more permanent disenchantment with boxing is anyones guess. I'm less than thrilled with what I'm hearing back from my man anyway. That said you never know if he's totally accurate (although hes always been a good source in the past) because its his opinion on Bernard he's giving me in this case rather than any hard facts

That Medina guy Johns fighting in Dallas has nice numbers on his rec until you look at the guys he has fought! John will probably get slated again for taking on this guy - especially as he usually campaigns at light middle weight. But I guess it's an opportunity to look good on the world stage...

Munroe was on Boxrec until the other day to fight for "the final WBC elimanator" on the Martin Lindsay vs Jamie Arthur bill.....
I think he will Vacate the title and i think he has already vacated the commonwealth title he won not so long ago against a guy with 6 fights to his name

Well it let me British IP view it even thought it said ROI only on the listing. Anyway Manny said "Andy Lee is the best middleweight in the world, its just frustrating that he doesnt get the chance to fight for the title"

Another pull my mouth of the side of my face moment supplied by the Kronk legend!

Steve wellings has a new interview with Pat magee on irish-boxing.com
Also did anyone see the two BBC NI reports? One an interview from the airport that is still on their website and the other footage of the fight that was on last night.
