Hello Sardu, I have often heard the comment that Jerry Quarry was the best white fighter since the "rock".He was an exciting fighter, his 1rd KO of Shavers testified to that.I have several older brothers, and they are also avid boxing fans,my brothers often spoke of Quarry's prowess, and we were all saddened to hear of his problems in later life, along with his subsequent death. The F.I.S.T organisation fronted by Cooney should hopfully give much needed support to ex boxers in similar predicaments.Good luck to anybody associated with that organisation.

Sardu, I don't know if you have been following the Irish boxing broadcasts on RTE.The broadcasts are streamed on to the internet and can be accessed on www.rte.ie. An Irish fighter with a lot of talent is fighting this Saturday. His name is Paul McCloskey, and he is from County Derry. The broadcast starts at 9pm Irish time so I would imagine that would be early afternoon US time. McCloskey fights Cesar Bazan the former lightweight champion of the world.
Also on the broadcast is my favourite Irish fighter of the last decade, and that is Neil "Sinky" Sinclair. Sinclair is an big-punching welterweight, who is explosive as he is vulnerable. Neil's best years are most likely behind him, but he can still be tremendously exciting. So if you can find the time, watch this broadcast.

Lee needs alot more than stamina training.Ok he was beating a c-level middleweight handily for first 3 or 4 rnds but to say only his lack of stamina was his downfall is wrong.
Pavlik could go 15 rnds at a blazing pace.Lee could barely go 6.If he is spending all day every at the gym what the hell is he doing.Where was the guy who was besting Taylor in sparring?

You are the man on here Ardy and the founder of this good thread. ESB will be very pleased with you. You touch base with everyone and keep it, I'll bet in pvt emails and contact. This thread is going to top the poll at ESB. They might approach you to set up a forum for the irish, as long as it doesn't isolate us it could be awesome.

Yes I do push our wee squad hard at the gym :yep :good

I like Sinclair, but is he not past it. Ardy surely you dont believe he can make any sort of impact on Eurpean or world boxing. Does anyone else think sinclar can achieve anything.

im sorry marty, although neil was a very talented boxer he just doesnt seem to be able to make use of all his ringsmarts anymore.
take his fight against the english guy ... francis jones last year, cant remember whose undercard it was on,but he was performing very well until he ran out of steam and began to get comprehensively outboxed and ko'ed in the middle rounds if i remember correctly,in honesty i dont thin he could make an impact at british level anymore, never mind euro level.

Hello Marty,Neil Sinclair probabley isn,t the force he use to be. But I read an article in The Irish News today about Paul McCloskey.Paul was descibing his sparring with Sinclair Quote:"I've been sparring with Neil Sinclair who is one of the hardest punchers in Europe,if not the world" end Quote. If Sinclair is back to his best, expect a devastating KO on Saturday. But it's one fight at a time for Neil, and he has a lot of proving to do,if people are going to accept him as any type of contender again.:good

Hello Ardy, how are you sir?? Sorry to see Lee's loss the other day, but he's tough as nails, young, and I'm willing to bet anything he'll come out the other side stronger.

Your thread is really turned out to be something!! Great job.

Oh, forgot to ask, any new news on B. Dunne?? I hadn't checked with you in a while. Last time I asked you'd told me he'd gone and pretty much blamed his coach for losing the fight with Kiko.

Hello Pipewrench, good to hear from you. It's been a while. Our thread is doing well, a lot are posting, some more than others. What can you say about Lee's defeat, it was a complete shock to me. Vera proved a lot stronger than people thought he would be. It looks like your man Pavlik is safe for the time being, as far as a foe from Ireland is concerned.:yepThere is Irish boxing from RTE on Saturday, make sure and tune in.:hi:

Pipewrench, he is still with the same coach, but it looked as if he was going elsewhere, but he couldn't get a top American coach to train him in Ireland. He fights again on the 12th April. It can be viewed on RTE.:good

Ardy, if Australia can maintain their own forum, why can't the Irish?? Irish boxing is off its heals now since the country has endorsed Pro, we have the fighters up there in the world headlines making waves. As I see it Ardy, you're the man with 'hands on the button'. What do you say champ?
