I'm not a fan of violence myself but I say starch the wee ****er and let Johnny Nelson tell us all about on Friday Fight Night :deal He deserves it for having a stupid name. It's pronounced Boyo. He deserves a good slap for that right off the mark.

Good luck with it. Hopefully you get a nice KO and that will encourage the boys on TV to give us a look at you.

    William McLaughlin to turn pro?

    By Tom Comack
National boxing champion and the 2009 Donegal Sports Star of the Year William McLaughlin is contemplating a move to turn professional.
The Ilies Golden Gloves boxer is a member of the current Irish Elite squad and he has admitted that he has received a number of offers to join the professional ranks.

"I have received a number of offers and a number of professional promoters have been in touch," McLaughlin said this week.

"It is fair to say it is something I am considering and I am giving it some thought. But it is something I am not going to rush into. It is a big decision and one I am going to take some time over. I am going to discuss it with my coaches and my family.

"A lot will depend really on the funding I receive from the Irish Sports Council. The grants for the year will be out in March and I will be in a better position to make a decision then."

But for now Donegal's sole reigning senior champion is concentrating on his amateur career with Friday night's Ulster Elite Championship final meeting in Belfast with Niall McGinley, from Omagh, the defending champion.

"For now I am concentrating on the Ulster championships and retaining my Irish senior title and as far as turning professional that is a decision for down the road," insisted William, who also admitted at being disappointed at not be eligible to compete in the Commonwealth Games.

McLaughlin will be joined by Tyrone McCullough, John Sweeney and Cathal McMonagle in the Ulster finals on Friday

More talent turning pro and seemingly no end to the amateur talent coming through. Good times!

Sounds like a ploy from Willie to get more money from the Sports council rather than a serious intention to go professional:deal

Lads what's the story with Shane McGuigan is he still fighting or has he packed it in? I noticed that someone posted on here a few weeks ago that Shane had apparently stopped fighting? I saw a piece in The Observer on Sunday, short interview with Barry and Shane McGuigan, and it appeared that there is no change to his status as a boxer???

According to his brother and Carlito cant confirm if I have this wrong but he is still sick over the wobbewy he had in the Ulsters last years and doesnt fell like he is gettin a fair crack of the whip.

So he is doing some kind of fitness and nutrition degree. If we see him back it sounds like it would be without a vest!

Yeah, that's right - I remember something to that effect. It was interesting to read in the article on Sunday that Barry was very much against his son getting involved in boxing.

Boyeaux is an absolute animal - but he has a major weakness that you should be able to exploit.

His problem is that he can only beat fighters that are called Tommy, Thomas, Tomasz, Tomas, Tom or Tomislav so you should be fine! :good

I dont know the lad but thats exactly how the article read - possibly overplayed his hand there because it didnt sound so subtle. If the journalist was at all friendly with him he should have rounded the edges off that so it didnt sound so bad.
