Well if they are going to run a lot of small shows they will defintely have to be around the country. Maybe Peters needs to look at alternating Dublin, Limerick and Mayo shows every 3 months or so. That said, I do think you are still drawing from the same pool of people quite a lot. Speaking of each fighter having their own following, I was a little surprised last night wasn't a sell out considering that 7 of the 8 lads fighting for titles are actually Irish. I would expect Coveney to shift many tickets but I would have thought there would have been biggere individual followings for each fighter. I think Barrett had the biggest support outside of the main event. I really hope the shows do continue and boxing here keeps getting the coverage it deserves. Anyway onward and upward to the Amateur Finals next :thumbsup
what about belfast or derry:huh... if peters runs shows in belfast....they will sell every time... rogie and barrett must be in the kings hall surely
Bigtime. With Kevin O'Hara V Hyland on the undercard at super-feather, which would be a class match up as well, a re-match of sorts lol
here did you see rogie last night when yer man out of rte was asking what his tactics would be against barrett....rogie was pratically licking his licks with glee thinking about the barrett clash... he could hardly keep a straight face:yep
rogans tactics against barret would be smash him in the gob when barret gets up smash him in the gob again repeat till the ref jumps in
When was the last time RTE showed a card in Belfast? Last one that I recall was the Duddy v Eastman card. I dont see any reason why RTE cant televise more small hall shows all over ireland...
No offence meant, quite the opposite in fact! I was just thinking about shows that will need to be sold. I'd have every confidence of shows in the Kings Hall selling out no bother. I generally rate the north of the country as the most densely populated as far as boxing support goes. I think shows up north will sell out almost automatically so aren't an issue. Its harder work to sell elsewhere
Who is going to London for Prizefighter. I have decided that I need to be there in person to see Sinky KO his opponents into an orbit. 50 quid return flight from Belfast- you know it makes sense
I think Ardy is headin' over, I've unfortunately used up all my "staying out overnight passes" going to Martin Lindsay's fight and then over for the David Haye fight. It is very tempting tho....................
