I am a grumpy fecker! I am officially NEVER happy! What am I not happy about?? Well, this grant is supposed to have a performance related element! So why is Athletics, Hockey, Rowing and Sailing getting so much money?? Boxing IS Ireland's success story the rest of those bull**** middle class kiss me whole of passtimes are Ireland's failure yet are propped up with disproportions financial assistance whereas Ireland's boxing clubs fall apart. *and breath*
They should take all the money allocated to cricket and tennis(gay eglish sports) and give it to Boxing:deal
not sure if the news has broken yet but ive got info from a reliable source that Lee has left Steward (his contract was up this year so he hasnt decided to renew it)
I got a email about the release of Saviours from Eclipse Pictures which done the film. I was trying to blag a copy but the girl I was dealing with couldn't sort me out. She was saying the DVD should be out in the coming months but will be released it is only a matter of time. There has been high interest in the film so it will be released.:happy
Regarding the grant system I never understood why golf and horse racing is getting so much money there is over €1 million put into that alone. You look around Ireland and having played on a good few golf courses why they need that amount of money is beyond me golf isn't even a Olympic sport. Most pros in Ireland make more than enough to live on and wouldn't need any grants. As for Racing in Ireland alone it is a huge money earner. Top breaders are raking in huge money and that alone would seem to me that they could do without. I know most of the money for racing will go into up grading the race tracks more than to the jockeys who will be competing in the Olympics. Money wasted I think.
He as much as confirmed this at the Limerick press conference when asked why cornerman Joey Gamache was sitting next to him, with no sign of Steward. I'm curious as to which direction they take him next.

Seen this coming for awhile, Manny seems to have lost interest in moulding fighters. Glad Lee left him his opponents when in Ireland are a lot better than when he is in the US or on Wald's undercard. Any rumors on who he might be going with Paddy?
There had been some things going on for a while I didnt expect him to resign (the contract was up at the start of the year) but I was told he would more than likely extend it but this was a few weeks before the limerick fight I suppose Manny working for HBO the night of Lee's fight in Limerick was the straw that broke the camels back!
not sure but I wouldn't be surprised if Peters swooped in and signed him to a managerial/promotional contract
I think thats good news about Lee. Leaving a top rated trainer isn't usually a good thing but he's stalled and needs something to revitalise his career. This move away from Steward would suggest that he acknowledges that himself and is looking to pick up the pace in his career himself
