Your reply perfectly backs up my point :good there is more sense and honest analysis spoken on this thread by people who know and love the sport than there is in most newspapers.

Very true unfortunately. There is more insight on this thread than in most of the articles you'll read in the papers in this country. There is only 1 genuinley quality boxing journalist on the island that springs to mind

    EDIT

i'll qualify that so people don't get the wrong end of the stick. There are some good writers too. But only one (from the paid ranks) I'd put up there as able to compete with the likes of the George Kimballs of this world. Generally most of the top stuff you find about Irish boxing is done by people who don't get paid but write on sites for free out of genuine passion for the game

I sent the gentleman my extensive thoughts on the article - it basically was most of the post above, although I did fix the English up significantly!

    why not do the same!

I have a copy of O'Hara-Hyland on DVD somewhere I'll try and find it out of my collection.

I thought Hyland won the fight but it was fairly close. Eddie started and finished strong while Kevin had success in the middle rounds. That was a genuinely good fight night actually at the Stadium, enjoyed that one.

Must have been a few years ago now though? I forget.

Quite the opposite. The top writer on the island is a Belfast man afaik? There are a few decent ones but he'd be top of the tree.

None of the southern brethren are up to much.

Sure how could I pick you slappy? You daft mancunian fooker :deal
