Its because we're all wild gamblers Ardy :thumbsup Can't give you much of a reason. Its a gut instinct thing. Short distance, one fighter inactive, plus you don't have to be dynamic (which Butler surely isn't) to win the first round of a prizefighter tournament. You just need to be game
dig Gomez up - he is probably a light middle at the moment!!! This shiit is made for him. WHo are the subs for Prizefighter?
Young Wilton has improved since the defeats you mentioned, but the jury is still out with him. Jamie Conlon is a much better prospect and should knocking on the door for the British title in the next eighteen months. And here's another prediction[and a bold one at that] from myself, Jamie's brother Michael boxes Conor Ahearn in the semi finals of the flyweights this week in the Stadium. I think young Michael can win this and go on to lift the national title.
The only reason I'm asking is because I'm looking to do a four fight accumulator myself, on top of my Sinky bet :hi:
In fairness, most of what Conlan said wasn't untrue. Parts of it were unnecessarily bitter and negative. My main problem with the article is the timing of it. Had it been published after the Cordoba fight when Dunne's hype had peaked it would have been relevant and justified. You can't deny many were making him out to be better than he actually was and that includes the RTE analysts. What pissed me off is he decides to write this just after his retirement announcement, which is a time to celebrate Dunne's achievements and all he did for the sport of boxing. It smacks of just going against the grain to be controversial and gain a bit of notoriety as a journalist a la Dunphy and Kevin Myers. The timing of the article made it bitter and begrudging.
Ardy i would agree with most of your picks except i would take concepcion to beat omeara (who was absolutely shite in his last outing) - plus Concepcion will be very sharp he fought recently. I think it will be sinky v flournoy in the final. Flournoy - could do an ovil Mckensie with a good 'in and out' strategy as he is really a welterweight. Flournoy has good amateur pedigree as he was aba welter champ in 2005
