It's €20 a game into Bohs this year for Cat A matches. Scandalous price if you ask me. I'm a member so I don't have to pay by the week but I'd reckon a lot of people struggle to come up with that cash every Friday.

Thats why I'm particularly unimpressed with the pricing for the finals. I know from first hand experience what can happen when you get your pricing wrong. I know they want to make money but getting this greedy in the middle of a recession is ridiculous. Not only is it going to fail to attract new fans it will probably keep some existing fans away.

I don't know if I can afford to go on Saturday to be honest. €40 lids in before I eat or have a drink. I'm not quite at the beans on toast stage but certainly the pricing is awkward on a budget

 

well that's the abridged version for the hoi polloi but I supposed the connoisseurs can handle the full whack!

In truth - the wee fecker packs a wee bitta dynamite in both hands but I would like to see him be a bit more vicious because he can be a little cautious.

 

Is it that bad. To be honest I cant see the league lasting much longer now Cork are gone bust. Shels before that as well. I think it is only a matter of time before there is 1 league for the whole 32 counties of Ireland it would benefit them all in the long run. Like the Setanta Cup rumours were going around that there were people willing to back the move but it seems both the FAI and IFA dont want nothing to do with it. I think they are worried that FIFA might tell them to play as 1 country in internationals. Knock summer football on its head the teams are missing out on getting friendlies against English clubs that would garentee a full house. If they could get 5 games before a season against championship / SPL and Priemier league teams and do tickets for we say €40 for the 5 games they would sell out just for the priemier league team. Time for them to look to the future and save the clubs that are still going north and south.

 

McCarthy seldom discusses his exploits in school from what I read. he is humble and a high-character kid.

 

His parents are of Irish ancestry icemann. Although in america you never know right?! LOL... I mean, "Irish" Jerry Quarry had american indian and dutch mixed with his irish. Gerry Cooney was 1/4 Spanish descent on his mother's side. Bobby is a handsome but very rugged-looking irish-american kid with dark hair. And with a last name like McCarthy certainly at least 1/2 irish although he looks to be 100% to me judging on his appearance.

Did the latest Sinky Says. its online now. He's talking about his performance at Prizefighter and also rumours of a Moore fight. He didnt sound too positive about it happening to be fair, but we'll wait and see.

 

Thanks for the links Ardy. How good is Coleman Barrett IYO Ard? I never heard of him before I just read the article in your link. He is going to fight Rogan? That should be a crowd-pleaser as Rogan always comes to mix it up. Tyson Fury is a very talented kid with tools that cannot be taught like tremendous height and reach. I think he needs to shed some baby-fat and gain physical strength via incorporating some weight-training in his regimen. Evander Holyfield proved twenty-some years ago that weight-training can help rather than hurt a boxer if utilized in the correct fashion. With a significant gain in strength and explosiveness Fury could very well become a force in the division. He has youth on his side and great potential.

 

Ardy, Cooney got huge publicity over here from about late-1979 to when he fought Holmes in June 1982. I went to his fight with Leroy Boone in December 1979 and his fight with Jimmy Young on May 25th, 1980 - also in Atlantic City. After the Young fight my grandfather got us into Cooney's after-fight celebration and I met his mother, one of his brothers (Tony) and Cooney himself. He is one of the nicesest guys you could ever hope to meet. However, from 1980 to the Holmes fight in 82' Cooney fought very few rounds. Part of that was because he was decimating his opponents in less than a round apiece (Ron Lyle - KO 1) October 1980 and Ken Norton (54 seconds on May 11, 1981). From the time Gerry bombed Norton out he was supposed to fight another 70's heavyweight named Joe Bugner in December of 1981. This fight was called off for reasons I don't recall. Gerry hit so hard that he often had injuries to his shoulder and rotator cuff. I saw him practicing left-hooks on the heavybag prior to the June 1987 disaster against Michael Spinks in Atlantic City. The bag almost got dislodged and whole building felt like it was shaking from the impact of the punch. If Gerry had a stationary target (Lyle, Norton, Eddie Gregg, George Chaplin) he was devastating. If his opponent circled away from his lefthook - Holmes, Spinks, he could be neutralized. By the time he fought Foreman in 1990 Gerry's battles with booze and drugs left him a shell of his former self. he had also been inactive for several years. Still, he shook Foreman down his heels with a huge left-hook but failed to pursue it and was kayoed himself in the next round.
