I would like to interview a recognised boxing journalist/commentator/pundit for a radio show. Anyone have any recommendations...(or contacts maybe???)

When you say recognised do you mean someone who gets their name in the paper or someone who actually knows what they are talking about?

    EDIT

Talk to Steve Wellings or Slappy or Paddy

Steve Wellings. He's well known and he knows what hes talking about and he's on here. He's also well respected within the fight game. I wouldn't bother looking any further. Steve's your man

If anyone can help, please do.

I'm trying to outshine a person who got Des Cahill and Gerry Thornley on the show to talk about soccer and rugby respectively.

Buncey will run up your phone bill. But if you want THE MAN, get Kimball. Still think Steve W is a good shout. If you want to talk about international boxing or boxing history then Kimball is great. IF you want up to date stuff on Irish boxing then Steve is the man.

By the way, Des Cahill knows absolutely **** all about football. That is a stone cold fact my friend. So you could get a dry roasted peanut on your show to talk about boxing and 'outshine' your counterpart.

If appealing to the masses is what you are after then I guess Bunce is the best known name at the minute.

Sure you could get Jimmy Magee to talk through his hole on your show and everyone would know who he was but that still wouldn't make it a good show

Yeah Kimball is my favourite writer. But Ectoplasm seems to want to get 'a name'. Now Joe Public in Ireland doesn't have a scooby doo who George Kimball is.

They are more likely to know Jimmy Magee or Buncey IMO. So getting Kimball (who is clearly the top dog out of those options) might not achieve what he wants.
