I think I should be allowed on the air and we can see how many times I can say '****' before it gets taken off the radiowaves! In fairness I never swore once when I used to go on Newstalk!
Did you have the pleasure of speaking with Gerry also Paddy? I saw Cooney about a year and half ago one morning in Newark airport. He is one of the warmest and nicest human beings you could ever have the pleasure of meeting. He likes to joke too. You can feel the power in his handshake. He was heading down to Florida to play some golf with a business associate. Gerry has a nice and very comfortable life today.
Indeed I did i had an interview with him a few months back He does a good bit of charity work aswell! He also told me he would spark Wlad Klitschko if they had have fought prime for prime!:hey
In truth any of the names that BamBam mentioned could give you all the low down you need. Ste specialises on the nordies, Paddy on the Free Staters and me on the Paddies in Britain. I am happy to help but Paddy works on his own radio show and would already know the ins and outs!
Didn't realise you contributed on Newstalk BamBam. Was it 'Off the Ball'. Just asking because I listen in to this show quite a lot.
Yeah back in ye olde times. It was when Ger Gilroy and Daire Whelan were running the sports show in there
Des Cahill?? he is the worst sports hack around..?? you could outshine him with Steve no problems.. and Paddy would talk a great game! You couldnt get better than George Kimble though
ah Jimmy's alright... i seen him at the amatuers this year and he recognised more people than me- and talked them all- champs from back in the day and all...
Hello Sardu, Barrett has a lot of skill for a heavyweight, but his chin will always let him down. Around ten years ago as an amateur Coleman won a bronze medal at the world juniors, which of course was a fantastic achievement. He left Ireland shortly after that, but resurfaced in London, it was there that his fragility became evident. Two years in a row he was knocked out in the London ABA semi-finals, but the third year he boxed as an amateur in London he managed to protect his chin enough, not only to win the London ABA's but the entire English ABA's. Barrett then decided to turn pro, and has had a stop-start career until recently. I fully expect a fit Rogan to blast Barrett aside in less than three rounds when they eventually meet. I'm sure he's a nice man it doesn't mean he doesn't talk through his hole though. He's a caricature of himself at this stage. Gilroy went off to be a 'serious' journalist. I think he gets paid about 3 times as much now as he did then so that probably had something to do with it. Plus the shift hours on the sports show there were really ****ed up
