he is up beat and determined- but some things just transpired against him! the venue got a few bad calls re the show?? i wonder if the sponsors got the same?? But again he reckons he has everything bar sponsors sorted but is confident they will committ further after the summer! it was a great card

confirmed- sweeney waldron, Fitzy and Long 3, Eddie Hyland and ***an 2, all irish titles. Prunty was going to jump the ropes-not sure he was fighting:yep.. and the top of the bill had James Moore possibly against Sinky

 

your talking at least 5 months before he runs this show, the news couldnt be any worse:deal

 

How much money does it cost to sponser a 1 off show would it be huge money or not so huge money? This isn't a world title show Egan has on so the sponsership money wouldn't be near the top end.

 

i am no expert but id say the Moore fight could cost nigh on 20k??...irish title fights 8-10k then there is venue lights sound advertising etc.. you need decent money from a sponsor-

a few positive ideas might help- lots of promoters lost money last year on shows- if we want to see live fights something new has to come about

Lads the Moylette-Donnelly fight is up on Youtube. Scoring was a disgrace to say the least. The way Moylette fought was just to keep thing very tight and try a catch him with a few shots.

 

anyone know why haughian is travelling all the way to the states to fight? is he still with breen? also just read the hyland article. i feel if the 3 brothers were to get a promoter they would be much better off. like come on the purse bids for a eu title cant be so so big....can they?:huh

 

There is a reason that promoters bring in journeymen from eastern europe. They are cheaper - and that includes flying them over and putting them up in a hotel. The downside is that eastern european journeymen don't sell tickets. I like everybody else want to see the best of Irish fighting each other, and failing that some good brits coming over - but that isnt going to happen unless the price is right. Promoters arent in this for the good of their health and if they are loosing money then I'm afraid we have no industry.

Boxers and promoters have to sit down to come to some sort of arrangement that suits everybody. This will undoubtedly involve boxers 'buying' their place on a card by way of selling tickets.

To do this, boxers have to get out there, meet the fans and convince people to come and watch them fight. I am aware of one guy who got paid in excess of £10k for a four rounder on a big hall undercard - it was only his second or third fight but he took his wages in tickets and made a point of selling them. Doing that and then winning in style will make it easier from there on in.

Cormac's right. There's no point in creating a distance between the boxers themselves and the fans. Ticket sellers make or break shows and individual fighters can shift tickets for various reasons.

Whether it's greater co-operation between promotional outfits or whatever, I think we need a strategy rethink.

 

Only the EBU will know what the exact figure was, but to win purse bids is one thing, Then you have to promote the show to stage the fight within a certain time of winning purse bibs which cost a fortune to run......

Sure let Paulie head over there, Shows the fans that he is not afraid to travel abroad to better his career.....

Only good can come out of it, Sure Brian Magee had to go abroad(Denmark, I think) for his EBU fight, Martin Lindsay went to Canada, Dean Byrne to Australia then L.A......and there is loads more too.
It might better his career in the long run...
