He should have got the nod, he threw way more punches. His feet were too quick for the other lad, he could get no shots off.
Sometimes in these situation when a team is doing so well they dont get all they deserve from the judges.Unlucky Ray.
ABZALIMOV, the Russian slated to meet Nevin in the semi ,if they both win their next fight, is the guy that edged JJ in the World semi last year.
he was supposed to be... hes on the posters... but i havent heard anything about him fighting on the bill lately :blood
Just saw the Barry McGuigan interview on RTE News as part of a short report. They spoke briefly about Carlos and then announced that he is making his "pro debut later this month". Do they research ANYTHING?
No Ectoplasm they don't. The standard of boxing journalism in this country is shocking. A lot of the boxing journalists in this country have no more than a passing interest. Then you have the scumbag gutter journalists trying to do hachet jobs on our young prospects like Kavanagh for no reason. ****s one and all!!!! At least the amateurs are still busting heads and taking names today so that cheered me up
cant agree with that:-(.... this part of the country got some great boxing journalists... but i think ive said this before:think
Ah look there are a few good lads about. But for every one good boxing journo there are 5 shitebags. That is a fact. Now I must underline that I'm not knocking the quality writers we have. There are just too many dickheads who get excessive column inches when they shouldn't even be making it into papers with their 'expert opinions'
i think with the success our boys our having in moscow and in other tournaments... along with our pro scene... its only a matter of time before the editors cotton on to fact that boxing is our most successful sport and should be given the respect and attention it deserves in these papers that your talking about.. although here in the north the coverage is quite good:deal
You northern feckers get all the good stuff. But as I said before the northern(north west) of this country is a different ball game to the other 75%. It seems to be a more popular sport all round up that neck of the woods. I think boxing is pretty much the sport Ireland are best at. I mean we have constant success at amateur level/youth levels and we now have a fine crop of professionals dotted all over the globe under the tutelage of many of the fight games biggest names. Only our rugby players have had any real big success lately. And sorry rugger buggers you're talking about winning the 6 (count 'em) nations and winning the european cup thats made up of clubs from those 6 nations. Its nowhere near as globally popular or competitive as boxing.
