Ah i wouldnt say we are that bad(standard wise). Ok i agree the love the gutter stuff-they celebrate stories like that. But gutter stuff aside what happens is they get staffers to cover boxing! They get the lads in there subbing etc to cover boxing and cycling and anything outside the holy trio of soccer, rugby and GAA.....hence the quality can be poor- they just cnt afford to get full time boxing hacks in!
Lads papers are there to please advertisers! Soccer brings the masses, as does GAA and Rugby brings the sought after ABC1 market(D4 richest and finest) those are the people advertisers want to get to! Thats why boxing doesnt get the coverage it deserves..! although the amatuers does get decent enough column inches(prob cause they get it free).
Did Nevin get get one of those IABA jobs. If so that might be why? ***an had to stop boxing because he got that development job? The press release did defo say he will 'retire'. Maybe from the ams???
I saw that score i just missed the fight and it was just before the next guys got in the ring it had the other lad with 6 and donovan with 3 but it could have just been when they were rolling back the scores Like i said i hope im wrong!
dont tthink he has a job doing that ...i know donvan has and hes still plugin away amatuer ...hope its retires from the ams because he could make a brilliant pro
The EBU confirmed a good while ago Peters won the purse bids for Pajo's fight... they said the fight was to go ahead JULY 2 but then Pickering didnt want it. They confirmed an italain lad (cant recall his name, ill try and find it) then said they were just waiting on a date a venue from Peters.!
I just read that "McCullough won 6-3. The Armenian did not take it well. Tyrone got 2 standing counts. A lot of booing with the result." Bit of a joke that non-scoring count business alright but anyway, we've got 2/3 through. (Donovan boxes tomorrow.)
Young Frampton is an aggressive come forward boxer/puncher who was also a decorated amateur, and should have too much for Bailey. Within eighteen months I expect Carl to be British champion. Probably he's our best prospect here in Ireland at this stage of his career and we all have high expectations of him. I'm surprised Sky have not shown any of his fights yet [everyone one of his contests has been on a Sky undercard], but hopefully that will change this Friday.
