I think it's unfair to compare one fighter to another in terms of where they are at different stages of their careers. Murray is very much still a work in progress whilst McCloskey was probably good enough after five fights but just didnt get the breaks. But you can see improvements in Murray. He has added a bit of power and variety in his last two fights, and hopefully is improving his defence as well. Also he has fought in Belfast, Dublin, Limerick and now Cork in the last six months meaning more and more boxing fans across the country know who he is. He also has plenty of time on his hands so I wouldnt be concerned. He is ranked number three in Europe so it really is just a case of waiting for the right time before pushing for a title shot. I would like to see him thrown in at the deep end as well, just to see how good he is. But Im not going to complain too much about the quality of his opposition unless he is topping bills and we are being asked to pay for it as a main event. The one time he did top a bill was against ***an - and that was a fight we all wanted to see.
he would and he wants it - genuinely. Boxers say they want to fight everyone - but that loss hurts Lee and he wants to square that circle. He has been offered the fight before but his managerial and contractual situations is allegedly pretty complicated.
I'm sure Lee would want it too and he is talking of a fight in America next on tv to get exposure and a decent opponent and with Vera coming off a big win and he said he has been talking to ESPN this fight absolutly makes sense for Andy Lee
imo peters took the fight with ***an after eddie hyland beat him and at the press conference paddy snr said he,d let eddie fight andy as a main event as long as both boys were well rewarded for the fight now thats a great fight to make
Make it happen. What better way for Lee to get his confidence back and to win over the U.S fans by beating the only guy who stopped him. Be great to see him get that ****** off his back. Avenging previous losses always demands respect.
Think Andy has only fought about four or five opponents with positive records. Peters will step it up soon enough anyway...
alright lads..used post here before but been on d missin list for a while.new account too...good to see a lotta new names around
It was a huge revealing bit of information about Murray! Nah, I thought for some reason that he was referring to Andy Lee and not Andy Murray but then the penny dropped.
