Carl Frampton will be out in September 18th live on setanta......

McGuigan to promote at Ulster Hall
22 July 2010 Former World Featherweight Champion Barry McGuigan confirmed today that he will promote his first professional boxing bill at the Ulster Hall on September 18.
Clones Cyclone McGuigan fought at the atmospheric Belfast venue 11 times on his road to claiming the WBA featherweight title against Eusebio Pedroza in June 1985 and now he hopes that protégé Carl Frampton (6-0 3KO) and a host of other up and coming boxers can use the stunning venue as the perfect platform on the road to glory.
September 18th’s card, which is headlined by Irish Boxing’s Prospect of the Year Frampton and also features Prize-fighter champion Willie Casey, is the first in a six event deal with leading broadcaster Setanta Sports.
Speaking about September 18th’s bill Barry McGuigan said:
“I have a lot of very special memories fighting in the Ulster Hall - particularly winning the British title against Vernon Penprase in 1983, defending it and the European title against Clyde Ruan in 1984. There is always a special atmosphere for boxing and since they have done it up it looks stunning as well.
“We will be promoting six shows over the next year and all will be broadcast by Setanta Sports, providing a wonderful platform for the best young boxers to showcase their talents to a large audience.
“The first bill will be headlined by Belfast’s Carl Frampton who I believe has the tools to go all the way. He can box, he can fight and he is getting better and better with every outing. We would like to push him into championship class as soon as possible. I have seen him sparring with some of the best boxers in Europe and he looks very comfortable in that class.
“The September 18th card also features Prize-fighter champion Willie Casey from Limerick, who is one of the most exciting fighters on the scene at the minute. Willie is on the verge of a major title shot. So it looks set to be a great night of boxing.”
Stay tuned to irish-boxing.com for updates.

Great news to hear the Framptonator and Big Bang are back out soon. Hopefully they'll get decent opponents and get some quality rounds in. Any rumours of possible opponents lads?

What an insane year for Casey. The Ulster Hall gig will be his 8th fight this year! :admin Who knows, these two lads could cross each others paths down the line at some stage. :hey

With Andy Lee, when I first read he would be fighting that fella, I got pissed off because it is a pathetic fight. But it's still better than no fight. Lee was inactive for 6 months and has only fought 2 rounds this year. So hopefully it's merely a keep busy fight and we'll see something to get excited about in his next one.

Wonder if it is a case of his team being difficult to deal with or him being avoided. :think

What the hell is Andy Lee at fighting a guy who is 3-4???

I can understand he wants to stay busy, but come on!!

If he was fighting decent opposition on the big cards and then staying busy by fighting lesser opponents, then it wouldn't be too bad. However, he is fighting **** poor opposition on the big cards and facing even worse fighters to stay busy.

Is Carlos gonna be on a 6 rounder again or 8 rounder? Must be on an 8 rounder soon if he wants to be fighting for a Celtic title around new year. Good to see Casey is getting plenty of fights. Hopefully Conlan is on the card too.
