Fury vs. Power clash of the unbeaten heavyweights LONDON (September 7, 2010). Its virtually an unwritten rule in boxing that a hyped heavyweight prospect gets to avoid tough fights in order to build up his record, step forward Tyson Fury to shatter that myth. In just his 12th pro fight, British 6ft 9in Heavyweight sensation Tyson Fury (11-0, 9 KOs), of Manchester / Galway, will make his US television debut on ShoBox: The New Generation in one of the stiffest tests any prospect could hope to face in 6ft 4in American Rich Super Power (12-0-0, 9 KOs) at York Hall on Friday, September 10th. The Fury and ODonnell bouts will be televised in America on SHOWTIME® at 11p.m. ET/PT (same day delay). The event will also be shown in Canada on the Super Channel Network. Quickly becoming one of the worlds most talked-about fighters, Fury wields one of the best jabs in the heavyweight division and an overall arsenal that makes him impossible to overlook. A win over the unbeaten Power would put Fury at the forefront of any conversation about who is not only one of the best heavyweight prospects in the world, but the best at any weight. The Michigan-based Super Power has yet to taste defeat but is eager to prove that hes more than just a well-groomed stepping stone. But despite Powers record, Fury is ready to put on an impressive show in his US television debut, and show the world that hes ready to turn the bland heavyweight division on its ear. I love making big first impressions, and Im ready to wow America. Fury said. World boxing is dying to get behind a heavyweight that will bring excitement back to the division, and a hammer job on a guy like Powers will show the world that Im that guy. In the televised co-main event, unbeaten former Commonwealth Champion and one of Irelands finest boxers John ODonnell of Shepherds Bush, London / Galway will also be making his U.S. TV debut, when he tangles with Olympic bronze medalist American Terrence Cauthen over 12 rounds. Promoter Mick Hennessy said, Tyson is a breath of fresh air, and to knock out a quality fighter like John McDermott in his 11th fight, and then to take on a quality unbeaten heavyweight prospect like Rich Power in his next fight is unheard off, lets not forget Tyson Fury has just turned 22. But then, thats the type of fighter Fury is, extraordinary. On the undercard Colchesters Lee Lights Out Purdy will be back in action for the first time since his gripping 12 round unanimous points decision loss for the Commonwealth title against Denton Vassell, Prizefight semi-finalist Daniel Cadman will be showcasing his talents, Phill Intense Fury will be looking to continue his winning ways and all will be looking to entertain the York Hall crowd and extend their winning records. The evening will also see Haddenhams Tyler Goodjohn (Light Welterweight) and John the Gorilla Ryder (Middleweight) of Islington out to make a name for themselves as they both make their professional debuts. Tickets for this great night of international boxing are ON SALE NOW and can be purchased from the Ticketline Box Office on 0844 888 4402 or via www.hennessysports.com. Tickets are £35 for unreserved seats and £60 for Ringside.
Furys hardly shattering any myths. Powers opponents have a combined record of 27-60-6 and hes never fought outside Michigan. The other two opponents who had been mentioned would have been far better, however one of them, Gavern, was never even offered the fight yet Hennessey said he had signed
I saw that. I know a fella who is a journalist in Florida and is friends with Gavern. The night he was announced as the opponent for Fury I emailed him and got this response back "Gavern was never the opponent..I dont know who posted that he was.. I talked to him about it and he had no clue about the fight! Anyways he is going to be at a wedding that weekend, but would love to have a crack at Fury after this fight. " Maybe if Hyde was his manager his name wouldnt get used as a publicity tool
Id presume so. His words were dont know when the licence will be sorted. I was only talking to him for a couple of minutes. Wouldnt things like that be up to Pascal Collins to get sorted rather than Spike himself?
a friend of mine who know spike from workin wit him backin d day was tellin me some **** bt it could be bollox ...think thats the stuff dat was in the papers
Do all Irish fighters need a british licenses to fight in britain? Will Kelly have to get one to box Gavin even if its for the irish title. This seems abit weird to me the latvians hardly need one to get beat up on the british cards.. Yes i heard spike was in a bit of bother.Pity he's anice guy wg=here will that leave his deal with Warren.
Lads the Frampton fight is being shown on Premier Sports according their FB page - happy days! I am going to subscribe tomorrow. That's the Fury card, Frampton, Mosely and Limond fights - quality!
Seems that facebuke spamming is working a treat. We should really redouble our efforts - it's a tie-in, surely? Are you out there, Cantona?
