I don't understand what you mean. If Macklin wins a world title, Lee will have to take a shitty slice of the pie. If he signed for this and Macklin became champion in the meantime, it would be a massive bonus as the fight would already be signed so Macklin couldn't start making huge demands.
Peters says Lee and Duddy want no part of Macklin http://boxing-ireland.com/20101005_macklin_avoided_50.html
What the hell are they on about? Tied down to a fight with the European Champion? Lee is always mouthing on about a World Title and won't even take a fight that is a stepping stone to that because he thinks he'll get a world title fight by waiting around and fighting bums. What a load of nonsense.
I have to say I'm leaning toward your opinion. Lee has been offered to fight Macklin and Sturm now and rejected them both and talks about the big fights not coming. It's very, very disappointing.
Your whataboutery doesn't change the fact that Lee rejected the perfect chance to progress his career.
Whether Macklin got a call from Sturm is completely irrelevant. Whataboutery doesn't change a thing. We KNOW Lee rejected an offer from Sturm. Manny Steward confirmed it. So thats two big fights (one of which couldn't be more ideal for Lee) that he rejected. Who Macklin refused doesn't change that fact.
Manny Steward wants to keep Lee in America and make his name there and A duddy Lee fight in America would be huge not comin back to Ireland and having 2 fights and America forgetting about him for another 2 years
One world title fight in America would get him a bigger name than fighting 20 cab drivers in casinos in Chicago. Duddy and Macklin on his cv would put him right in line for a title fight in the States.
You should be equally dissapointed in both . The facts are Macklin turned down a title eliminator for a shot at the weakest champ at middle and Lee turned down a shot at sturm to stay in america.
I am disappointed but at least Macklin was up for fighting Lee, same can't be said for Lee. Especially after all Lee's "big fights will come sooner or later" bull**** I'm gutted with this news. Here was me thinking they'd relish the opportunity to fight Mackin. How wrong I was.
He, or more likely, his team are. Otherwise they would take this golden opportunity. You can't give me one good reason why he was right in refusing this.
i wouldnt be too dissapointed bout hearing this news from peters first off we dont know what was offered if it was 100000 to face macklin after duddy than thats not an awful lot of money its good but say a year down the line if and its abig if i know the two of them have world titles then its a muc bigger fight and much bigger money
