i stand corrected, johnson was awesome at super middle, begs the question of why hasnt he dropped down sooner, the punch that ended it was a tad dodgy, but full credit to johnson

KING CASEY: WILLIE IS EURO CHAMP AFTER HANDING PAULIE HYLAND THE "BIG BANG" http://www.boxing-ireland.com/20101106_willie_casey_is_european_king_24.html CASEY COMES OUT ON TOP http://www.sportinglife.com/boxing/...ORY_NAME=boxing/10/11/06/BOXING_Limerick.html CASEY PUNISHES HYLAND http://www.fightnews.com/Boxing/ear...rss&utm_campaign=early-results-from-ireland-5 MARTIN ROGAN FLATTENS YAVOR MARINCHEV http://www.boxingnews24.com/2010/11/martin-rogan-flattens-yavor-marinchev/ What a win win for the big bang, and it couldn't happen to a nicer bloke. He plans to be boxing again on December 10th.This show will not be picked up by RTE because of the exclusive contract the broadcasters have with Peters, but all is not lost for the couch potatoes who want to see this show, as there has been rumors recently that TG4 might be interested in picking up Dolphil shows, failing that Setanta might be interested, and with their vested interest [Carl Frampton] boxing at the same weight, this would seem a wise move for them also. One thing for sure, the landscape in Irish professional boxing has changed this morning with a rival promoter in charge of a European champ. Casey will open doors for Dolphil, and that can only be a good thing for the sport in this country. There are interesting times ahead, I suspect.
If anyone is going to show the Dolphil card I would expect it to be Setanta over TG4 or even TV3 remember they showed a bill from Tallaght before. I wonder why the stopped showing the fights. I would guess after that fight last night Peters will look to sign up Casey full time and if he beats Kiko maybe try and get him a World title fight. I feel in the long term Casey needs to be with Peters only if Setanta step in and back Casey in the longterm. After rewatching the fight again I think Casey is getting stronger and stronger and if managed well could end up fighting for a World title fight in years to come. Get by Kiko look at putting him in with a Booth or even Munroe some time next year maybe late summer time then try and get a World title shot if he wins those fights at the end of next year if possible.
It would be great if the likes of TG4 or Setanta worked with Dolphil - it would be a great boost for Irish boxing. Casey-Hyland was the best Irish fight I have seen since Dunne-Cordoba - thrilling stuff and what an atmosphere. I think the big bang has added a bit of boxing to his brawling style, but like Jim Rock said, first and foremost he is a brawler. Phil Sutcliffe has done a great job with big bang - I wish them both all the success:good
The freight train from hell was well and truly derailed last night,Heffron is going to do the same to O Brien next week then the can fight each other for the tomato can trophy.
Big Bang Casey claims European crown with easy win November 7th, 2010 This content is protected Casey (left) and Hyland Willie Big Bang Casey, in just his eleventh professional fight, last night picked up the vacant European super-bantamweight title with a comfortable fourth round TKO of Dublins Paul Hyland in the first ever all-Irish European title fight at the University Arena in Limerick, Ireland. Casey (11-0, 7KOs), a former Prizefighter winner, was originally scheduled to face champion Kiko Martinez, but Martinez withdrew with an injury and Paul Hyland (18-2, 5KOs) stepped in with just two weeks notice. It was never going to be enough for the Dublin fighter, and unsurprisingly succumbed to Caseys pressure inside four rounds. Casey came out like a tornado, attacking Hyland with hard, fast combinations. Casey may need to settle down and pick his punches a bit more, but against Hyland it didnt matter. With the raucous crowd spurring him on, Casey simply let his hands go at the first bell and didnt stop until the referee stepped in to save Hyland two minutes into the fourth session. It was a comfortable win for Casey, who never really took a hard punch, but now the competition level should rise sharply for him, and with the true tests laying ahead we will find out whether he can cope at a higher level. Who knew that after only two years in the pro game, wed come back from winning Prizefighter and get the European championship, said Casey. We knew what Paul was going to do. We knew he was going to stand and trade with me, but if he did it was all well and good. For him to stand and trade with me, knowing Im a banger, to prove a point, to show he was no pushover, my respect goes to Paul. Bernard Dunne came back (from a loss) and theres no reason why Paul cant do that either. He has the skill and technical ability to do it Asked about Kiko Martinez, who was present at the arena, Casey said I suppose itll be about six months (until they fight). My promoters are putting on two cards and well talk to see if Ill fight on one or both of them, to pick up a little bit more experience before meeting Kiko. Another former Prizefighter champion, Belfast heavyweight Martin Rogan (13-2, 7KOs), also got a win, a first round knockout, but in truth it was a farcical fight against an opponent who simply didnt look like he wanted to be there. At one point the referee asked opponent Yavor Marinchev (5-21, 3KOs) if he wanted to fight. Marinchevs response wasnt exactly emphatic, but neverthless he continued for a few more seconds, desperately trying to spoil, but Rogan caught him with a decent looking left hook to the body that put Marinchev down hard. There was no chance he was going to beat the count, even if he was physically able, and the referee reached the count of ten and signalled the end of the fight. Talking of farcical fights, one of two Cubans on the card, light-heavyweight Luis Garcia (11-0, 9KOs), scored a ridiculously easy win over former World champion Byron Gator Mitchell (28-7-1, 21KOs). Mitchell looked a shot fighter and could barely keep his balance even before a punch had landed. It didnt take long however, and soon Garcia was bombarding Mitchell, landing heavy blows at will. Mitchell was a shadow of his former self and flopped around the ring like a punchbag with legs. Early in the second round a cut appeared over his right eye and it was obvious he used it as an excuse to quit. He insisted to the ringside doctor that his vision had become blurred and he was in no position to continue, so the referee had no choice but to call the fight off and declare Garcia the winner. Mitchell should never be licensed to box in the country again in this writers opinion. The second Cuban to make an appearance was heavyweight Mike Perez (12-0, 10KOs), who also scored an easy win, blowing away Pavels Dolgovs (6-10-1, 4KOs) inside a round. Perez seems to have gained a few pounds since moving to Ireland and looked flabby around the middle in comparison to past fights, but it made no difference to this outcome, as he knocked Dolgovs down twice on the way to victory.
without a doubt the irish fighter of the year:yep this was the rise of casey.Kos the undefeated canadian champion in his home town, wins prizefighter and wins the european title all within the space of tweleve months. Reminds me of Rogans great a few years back
Watched it a few times and Willie looked like a wild man coming out of the corner at the start of every round. He genuinely looked wild eyed! He broke Hylands will with his agression and relentlessness. Once he took a good belt of Hyland and it had no impact, which only took half a round!, that was game over Willie was always going to walk him down. Hyland played into his hands with his tactics but to be honest I think if he had tried to stay outside it would only have delayed the inevitable. And once again I won a nice few quid on the bauld Willie! He's a punters dream!
I'd hate to be vulgar and mention exact figures but it was a nice few quid anyway :good . You have to speculate to accumulate! I covered my bases well and won 2.75 for every euro I laid down (including money on Hyland and the draw)

Great pic of the elbow to the head. Very disappointing for Murtagh. Hopefully they can get it on again.
