Smichet looks a tough one for Duddy.

 

I have seen Smichet a few times, including twice live early in his career. As mentioned above, he is more of a brawler than boxer with good but not great power. He is fairly slow, and he is pretty much a non-factor from the outside. He will probably want to get inside and crowd Duddy, and throw power punches once hes in there. Has a pretty consistent workrate, his pace doesnt slow down late in a match, though he has only gone 12 once. I expect the quicker handed, and more skilled Duddy to beat him to the punch all night and probably stop him sometime between rounds 8-10 maybe. He will not be hard to find for Duddy, thats for sure. Aside from getting TKOed in the 1st in 06 by Renan Ste. Juste, which was a questionable stoppage, he seems to have a solid chin, but I think Duddy can stop him, more likely a TKO ref stoppage than a KO though.

If anyone wants to see him in action, his last fight is on daily motion. Its against Sebastien Demers and its a good entertaining fight. 3 parts.

The guys not a boxer Ardy, like the guy in Duddy's last fight. This guys in ya face, and a differant type of fight. I hope there isn't an upset on the cards. Smichet is a spoiler. Duddy's tough too, right! But cuts easily... This could be quite interesting.

 

thanks guys for all your info on smichet ... he looks like one tough hombre i noticed this is a change of opponent because last week they said he was fighting a mexican called munoz... but is smichet tougher than munoz... some guys thought munoz was a good opponent for duddy

 

ardy, I dont think there was any love lost between those two. I use to fight follow Dunne when he was in the States, but he began to struggle with some Mexican club fighters. I don't think he is world class. If you go to boxing tribune they have video of Duddy sparring.

 

yep them guys dont like each other at all.... i think dunne has a chance to win a world belt if he boxes his own fight and sticks to a boxing gameplan instead of showboating and playing to the crowd:good

 

yeah, hes pretty tough. limited skills, but he comes to fight and will give 110% effort to win.


also thought some of you guys might be interested to know that Martin Lindsay is fighting on Saturday night, on the undercard of sparring partner Steve Molitors IBF title defence. Hes facing Jason Hayward in a 6 rounder. Should be an easy night for Lindsay.

 

Yes. He comes across as a very genuine, pleasant guy.

It's a pity that so many people hate him, as a backlash to the amount of hype he gets. If you watch his fights or see him interviewed it is very difficult to dislike him. His fights are always entertaining, despite (or perhaps because of) his poor defensive skills.

 

thats right man....i have noticed a lot of guys dissin duddy....... so is he ready to fight for the title or not.... or will he ever be ready

[FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]An opponent has been named for unbeaten middleweight Andy Lee (14-0, 11 KOs) for February 2 at the University Sports Arena in Lee's native Limerick, Ireland. Lee will face Alejandro Gustavo Falliga (14-3-2, 4 KOs) of Argentina in what will be the first ever professional boxing event in Limerick. Lee is currently preparing for the fight in Florida where he is sparring with current heavyweight champ Wladimir Klitschko.
Also featuring on the card is middleweight Matthew Macklin (20-2, 16 KOs) in a ten rounder against Christophe Karagoz (17-13-4, 4 KOs). Macklin has recently left leading trainer Billy Graham, who also trains Ricky Hatton, and in an ironic move plans to train Stateside with Floyd Mayweather Sr., father of the man who recently KO'd Ricky.
