I wonder if Sky will show some highlights of the Ormond fight on the undercard of the Burns title fight. Wouldnt mind having a look at this to see how he is getting on and if there is some improvement.
There better be! Carlos had his magical under*******s on for the weigh in (spongbob squarepants or something) so some Maximum Banjo is on the cards
Yep. I've nothing against Casey, don't get me wrong. If this fight actually happens I'll be there cheering my bollocks off for him. But I think it's a bizarre fight for him to be taking after 11 fights, without ever seeing the 9th round. Normally I'd be giving out yards about fighters being too protected, but there's a happy medium between fighting nobodies and jumping into a fight with one of the top guys in the division after 11 fights. Casey has nobody on his record who comes within a million miles of Cordoba. He is exciting as **** to watch but he's also pretty raw and that's the last thing you want to be against a super-slick counterpuncher like Rigondeaux. The lad should get some time to learn his trade before he gets thrown in against a guy at that level. To me it just looks like he's being fed to Rigondeaux as a guy who will sell some tickets and whose come forward style is tailor made to make the Cuban look good after an unattractive fight against Cordoba. Casey will keep coming straight at him and Rigondeaux will keep whacking him and moving all night long. There's a simple rule of thumb here: If your management is still putting you in against guys with losing records (like Casey's next scheduled opponent) you shouldn't be going anywhere near the top guys in the division for a while yet. On the other hand, if this really can be hyped into a big payday then you can argue that it's worth taking a boxing lesson for the quick money. But as someone who thinks Casey might actually go somewhere if he's moved on carefully and gets the chance to learn, I'd prefer to see him get that chance. He's the European Champion, there are plenty of decent fighters who he can win against and improve against out there.
