Yep, that's what Gary said to me as well. It would be a crackin card if they can get the final details confirmed and what a night for Irish boxing:bbb
It's not a world title shot though. Not even for an alphabet belt. It's a shot at getting a shot at an alphabet belt down the line. And even if Casey gets very, very lucky and nails Rigondeaux, the puncher's chance isn't going to happen twice in a row when he gets in the ring with the actual WBA champion. The lad should be given the chance to learn his trade. Skipping ahead to start fighting top 5 guys in the division (ie Rigondeaux and should he actually win Ryol Li Lee) is nuts after 11 fights. If you don't have a gold standard amateur record, you should not be moved on that quickly. Unless you are being offered insane money, which he probably isn't. I feel like a bit of a ***** for saying it, because I like watching Casey and I think he can go places. You have to pick up experience against good journeymen, gatekeepers and fringe contenders before you start getting in the ring with the best in the world. The two questions to ask yourself when you look at this fight are: 1) Why are Casey's people putting him in next against a guy with a losing record if they really think he's ready to be mixing it with the top 5 in the division? 2) Why are Rigondeaux's people willing to take this relatively low prestige fight? In my view, neither of the answers give much cause for optimism. That said, if the fight happens I'll be cheering for the lad all the way.
Great performance from Little Brick Fists tonight, on to bigger and better but no rush. I'd prefer to see him in against Esham Pickering or someone that will give him rounds. http://boxing-ireland.com/20101203_carl_frampton_gavin_reid_57.html

If this Casey-Rigo business is for real surely this is the ready made venue, promotors, date, and tv deal for Lee v Duddy. And don't call me shirley.
I have come up with a caption for the Casey/Rigo card "Bringing revolution to the Rebels, Ireland the new Cuba" Tell Gary Hyde he can have it on the house (ringside tickets would be nice though).:good
Frampton was excellent, he looked so relaxed and confident, i dont think he broke a sweat. He seems way beyond this level already. However, two things that concerned me a little. While there seems to be plenty of venom in those punches he hit reid with numerous clean shots and he wouldn't go down, does this mean he lacks a little power or has reid just got a good chin. Also, Reid looked so much bigger, with a much longer reach.Obviously he didnt pose any problems to Carl but will he struggle to get inside against bigger men when he steps up in class?
I think he hurt Reid more than Scott Quigg did and Quigg is known as a good enough puncher, id say hes still a very good puncher but reid is tough. Its hard to know will a good boxer with a longer height and reach pose problems to Frampton but he looks to have fairly good head movement aswell so it might not cause much trouble in getting inside
After watching the video, I am even more impressed than I was last night. Frampton was so confident and calm, it was a pleasure to watch. He toyed with Reid like he was Istvan Szabo. You could see Frampton landing the shots and combos as he did against the Szabo. The double left hook to body and head, followed by an arching right over the top - Discombobulation Central!
I think what's getting lost on some people in regard to his power that a lot of these shots that are rocking heads around (but not putting people down) aren't even being thrown as 1 shot KO punches. I think it's more a case of every 'average' punch he throws being a stronger shot than people are used to seeing. There is purpose in every attack and he doesn't waste much, if anything, when he engages. I haven't seen him totally load up on a single shot, land it and not make a dent. Firstly because he doesn't box to rely on a single shot victory and secondly because what would be the point in doing that when you're landing 4-5-6-7-8-9-10 punch flurries of good solid shots that just keep accumulating. Give Reid his dues he has a good chin. If and when Carlos get dragged into the later rounds of a fight you'll see some spectacular KO's when lads aren't box fresh in the 1st and 2nd round and the cumulative effect of the punches has set them up to sparked.
Thanks for all the feedback lads! I enjoyed last night and now I'm looking forward to crimbo bring on the turkey Ps lads without sounding like a big headed eejit, don't be worrying about the power cause there's plenty of it
