misticmonk, I know Rigo will not pull in the punters like Eubank as Chris was a huge star and big puller. But Sky see Rigo - and, more importantly, Casey - as their fighter in some ways.

Rigo's last fight was at least broadcast there and Casey rose to prominence there too on Prizefighter. Plus we know what their hype machine is capable of after looking at that bollocks last month.

I'm told Adam Smith their head of boxing loves this match-up, only his hands are full at the minute with Gr8 Britain Takes on the World *tm, and that's why Hyde believes Sky are the likely destination.

Hopefully it's picked up by them if RTE don't go for it, I can't see TV3 or Setanta screening this..

If Sky get it, expect plenty of what goes on here at 3.25, and 5.00 - they need mora the oul 'haunting ****' though - but maybe this is more of a jiggy jiggy match up.

It's a long shot but if Froch or Khan are fighting in the US that night it would make perfect sense.

I am constantly impressed by the boxing knowledge and connections present on this forum.
Sky or RTE would be brilliant. Really hope this gets made. Among my friends there is very little interest/knowledge of boxing but I'm convienced I could get a bus load to go to this.

I'm from Limerick and a few of my mates were interested in going to the last Casey fight but put off by the price (they thought it would be around 20 snots) but seeing as it would be a world title I reckon I could twist their arms.

I'd still love if we got a fight against Kiko first. That would be all out action, I think Willie could win it and set him up even better.

Still I will definitely be going to this if it happens. It would be great to have a big fight on Paddy's day, it's on a Thursday next year just gotta take the Friday off and it's a hell of a weekend.

I would not disagree with you but this is a golden opportunity that might never come his way again. Grab it with both hands Willie and tare it off them.:good

Wasn't Darren Sutherland on a midweek card on Sky from DCU in his first or second fight?

Edit: Just looked at it boxrec, It was on a Thursday and Rendal Munroe headlined it, defending his EBU title against Fabrizio Trotta. Jason Booth was also on the undercard as was Darren Sutherland and Paulie Hyland. I'm pretty sure I recall that being on sky.

given that casey has a very good KO record and rigo will be in and around 1/12 as you said, you'd be VERY VERY brave to back rigo

yeah, but i think that was promoted by maloney so none of peters contractual difficulties would have arisen.

it was a great deal that peters got with RTE to have irish fights broadcast. you wonder now if they've slightly become a victim of their own success in that he's "tied" into that contract. i'm sure though that any difficulties will be ironed out.

i think you could exagerate how big this fight will be in the UK. as a few people have outlined on this thread its for an interim title. haye and harrison (bad and all as it was) was for the WBA heavyweight belt and it was an all British affair- Olympic Gold Medallist, Undisputed Crusierweight champ etc etc.

Naturally there would be an interest amongst the boxing public over there but I can't see your average british punter getting too excited about an irish european champ fighting a US based cuban interim champ.

I don't think you can compare this with collins-eubank either. again that was for a world title and there were two reigning world champions fighting. one british, one irish- both household names.
