The only difficulty with ***an v Murray is that although you could probably sell out the Stadium with it with hardcore fans, the general public and TV dont know either well enough. As such the fight could be viewed as a poor risk/reward for an up and comer like Murray. Saying that, it would be a cracking fight and would make the winner a star if it was a chief support.
Also, Greyhounds on Friday night in Dundalk. €10. I was on to Sinky about it and he is coming as well. Should be fun. Send me a PM or an email if you fancy going.

 

I've said the same to ***an before - although he has a great Mickey Wardesque reputation in the US and amongest hardcore fans the general Irish public havent got a frickin clue who he is - lets hope a good performance on the 12th could change that.

 

Cormac, its a fight we would all love to see made. Murray could be the next headline act in Peters Promotions, but he needs a defining fight.

Hows Sinky, I heard the fight could have went either way. Whats his plans?

 

I was only texting him but he seems fine. Not sure of plans yet, but it was the first time he has gone 12 rounds so there is obviously life in the old horse yet. I think Murray is definitely headed that way. You're right he needs a defining fight to make the leap - but is he ready for Fegan?

Thanks for that Ardy. Checked Wright's record on Boxrec - he is ranked number 41 against McCloskey's 38. On that basis alone you would imagine that this one will be fairly tight.

 

This could be a good test for mcloskey hopefully it will be. This is the type of fighter he needs one who has been in title fights.

 

***an is coming home permanently so it should be a lot easier to arrange fights for him in Ireland now .

Nigel Wright is a good fighter domestically and has a decent jab but I can't see him beating McCloskey . Ajose Alusegun who gets quite a bit of hype on the British forum(especially from one specific poster) struggled badly with Wright and only barely beat him in a defence of his commonwealth title .

McCloskey should win this on points and then look to get a fight with Branco for the European , and it would be very important to get that in Ireland(or at least outside Italy) too .

 

Presuming he gets through the next fight and goes for europe. Branco is decent and dispite what alot of people say i thought he won the lynes fight but it was close. As you say it would be essential for the fight to be in Ireland, if its a close one it can often go to the home fighter especially on the continent.

 

the first Olusegun fight I saw was against Wright. I had heard loads about him and looking at his record with KO wins over Nuumbembe and Pryce I was expect to see an interesting prospect. I was dissapointed in what I saw - I put it down to Olusegun not being as good as I thought but maybe I was doing Wright an injustice.

Wright doesnt have a bad record, apart from the Olusegun loss he was only ever beaten by McIntyre - which he reversed and beaten by Lenny Daws who he again later drew with in the return.

 

If as Puca stated previously Andy Lee is to face a creditable opponent and we add to that the McCloskey/Wright fight, all in all the Limerick show is shaping up well.

 

Guys i heard either Willie Gibbs or Howard Eastman.If so (we will find out thursday)it will be a great nights boxing.This is what i heard for what its worth.Either would be a tough fight for young Lee and instead of a confidence booster this all of a sudden would become a make or break.

 

Seeing as the Macklin v Gibbs fight has been cancelled it may be that a fight with Lee has been arranged.
