They chose Segei Dzinziruk over Lee which is strange , .He has a good record but the majority of his fights have been against guys with shite records ,Martinez has never heard of the guy let alone the general boxing fan.

Just finished the Dunne book and am real surprised there was so much tension between him and Peters. I thought they seemed to get along great. I always had this image of them being great mates outside of boxing. Peters has gone down in my estimation though mainly due to the lead up to the Poonsawat fight, very childish. Has Peters made any comment since the book was released?

On the subject of ring card, Ill have the fella that done the Katie Taylor fight the night of Dunne-Cordoba :D ( no homo )

    Rigondeaux - Casey Sold Out!

On March 19th 2011 Limericks own Cinderella-Man takes another leap into the unknown when he challenges Guillermo Rigondeaux for his WBA Super-Bantamweight title. Having defied all the odds to capture the European title, pummelling Paulie Hyland over four blistering rounds, Willie Casey embarks on a road less travelled by his fellow countrymen. Interestingly Ireland take on England in rugby at 5pm that day so Irish sports fans are sure to be licking their lips again with not-too-distant memories of Bernard Dunne fighting Ricardo Cordoba the same day as Ireland winning the six nations two years ago..

With the entire batch of ’early bird’ tickets now completely sold out, Dolphil Promotions are predicting a full house on March 19 for the World Title fight in Citywests brand new Convention Center.

“We released close to a thousand tickets a week ago and they are now completely sold out. We knew there would be interest but this is phenomenal support he’s getting. People see this as one of very few good news stories out there and that is mirrored by the amount of tickets sold in the last month. There will be an announcement in January regarding the three remaining blocks of seating” said Promoter Don O’Leary

With the public truly behind the Willie Casey fairytale story and with the cheapest world title tickets since Collins v Eubank, Ireland is now bracing itself for one of the biggest upsets and most memorable nights in Irish boxing history. ‘El Chacel’ who claimed the title over Ricardo Cordoba, comes to Ireland as one of the most decorated boxers in history boasting two Olympic Gold medals, two World Championship Gold’s and now the WBA World Intrim Title but father of four, Willie Casey is not phased by the task at hand and enters his training camp confident of upsetting the World Champion. “This is why I turned professional, I want to be fighting the best there is out there and Rigondeaux is one of the best. I am delighted with all these opportunities that I’m getting and I’m humbled by the support that I’m receiving. There are a lot of Super-Bantamweights that are avoiding this fella but not me, he has what I want so why wouldn’t I fight him.

“After only eleven fights he’s fighting for a World Title, its amazing. If you compare him to Macklin, Duddy and Lee they’ve over 80 fights between them and their still waiting for the opportunity so that gives you an idea of just how amazing this journey has become. Look at Kiko Martinez, he’s over 20 fights and still no call so I can see why he’s so upset. We’d like to invite Kiko to sit along ringside for the show and perhaps soon he’ll finally get the shot he craves.” Stated Daniel Halpin
When asked what he thought of the Kiko Martinez comments lately Willie replied “Kiko shouldn’t be worried, when I win this title I’ll be looking at him for my first defence.

There will be an announcement regarding tickets in the new year meanwhile, keep an eye on dolphilboxing.com or ticketgroup.ie for updates. Tickets are priced €50 (tiered) €70 (gallery) and €130 (ringside)

I think I know why. Won't say why either but if they're what I'm thinking, they're legitimate concerns.

What time do the pubs stay open to on a Saturday night in dublin and what other hotels do you recommend that definitely has a late night residents bar (ideally with sky sports in case they show the Magee fight)?

Eamonn O’Kane to fight on Dudey Undercard

    December 12th, 2010 · by admin · Dudey
Northern Ireland’s golden boy Eamonn O’Kane will make his professional debut on February 12.
O’Kane, who captained the highly successful Northern Ireland boxing team at the Commonwealth Games, has agreed to be managed by Francie McNicholl, father-in-law and adviser to his friend and European light-welterweight champion Paul McCloskey.
While a venue has yet to be confirmed, O’Kane will be on the supporting bill to McCloskey’s next defence of the European belt, which is likely to happen in Lavey.
O’Kane has been a fine amateur for many years, dominating the Ulster middleweight title for the best part of a decade and his finest hour came in Delhi in October when he claimed Commonwealth Games gold.

Clearly, the 28-year-old 2008 European bronze medallist believes it is time to leave the vest behind and seek glory in the paid ranks and McNicholl is confident that he can do just that.
“Eamonn’s a very dedicated lad, he lives the life that you need too and I’m sure that he’ll do very well as a professional,” said McNicholl, who works very closely with Matchroom Promotions with regard to McCloskey’s career.
“We haven’t terms completely with Matchroom but they have said that Eamonn will make his debut on this bill and Matchroom would be the promoters we are leaning towards.”
Slick mover McCloskey is eagerly anticipating an exciting 2011 with world title ambitions firmly in his sights, according to McNicholl.
Already ranked four in the World Boxing Council’s ratings, he may not be far away from a world title eliminator, assuming he makes another successful defence of his EBU title.
Adviser McNicholl added: “Paul’s delighted that he is getting back into the ring at the start of the year and we hope that he can push on from here and fight for the world title.
“There’s a final eliminator for a shot at the WBC title between Ajose Olusegun and Ali Chebah set for January 6 so we will know a lot more after that fight, it it goes ahead because it was meant to happen in November and didn’t.
“Paul is ranked at number four and should keep moving up with another successful European title defence so it’s looking like a very exciting year ahead.”
It had been expected that McCloskey would be forced into a mandatory title defence with Italian Giuseppe Lauri but the EBU have allowed the Dungiven man to have another voluntary.
“I think Lauri would rather wait around and hope Paul vacates the title. We’re working on an opponent at the moment for Paul and a venue as well because the King’s Hall is not available that night.
“But the date is set because that is the date given by Sky television.”
