danrafaelespn Dan Rafael Cameron Dunkin, Bradley's manager, said Bradley has not pulled out and is not pulling out. Says the rumors are unfounded.
In case it's slipped your attention lads it's already January. If he has designs on running a show here this month he'd want to get a move on. I don't imagine he's a man to do things half arsed so having a maximum 28 days from now to organise, announce and sell out a card here seems a slim chance. Not impossible mind you but also not the most likely
great job:good i was pissed off with all the fights that got called off last year and i didnt want it to start happening so soon into the new year.
Bollox boxers should only have to sell enough tickets to cover there own purse money especialy when the ticket prices are so high. let the gready promoters fork out for there opponents .what boxers now have to fight for nothing if they don't sell enough tickets .maybe promoters should look at bringing the price of the tickets down instead of charging 50 or 70 euros .if the tickets were 20 or 30 euros I bet each lad would sell enough to cover his and his opponents purse.
That makes more senes! I'd be much more hopeful he can pull it off if that's the case. As great as it is to have all this boxing coming up it's going to leave me fairly light in the pocket :deal
Egan eyes 2012 triumph This content is protected Kenny Egan Monday January 03 2011 Kenny Egan is determined to lead Ireland's buoyant boxing team to unprecedented Olympic success in London 2012 after resisting offers to turn professional in the wake of his silver medal win in Beijing. Egan has signed terms with the Miami franchise in the fledgling World Series of Boxing but insists his major goal is to finish his career on a high by bettering his performance in the Chinese capital. Egan's target comes at a time of extraordinary success for Irish boxing, with five medals from this year's European Championships and three golds for Northern Ireland fighters at the Commonwealth Games. Egan said: "The set-up has improved enormously since I first became a part of it and the success is a credit to the amazing work which is done by the high performance units in both Dublin and Belfast. "The squad continues to prove itself world-class and the fact that the next Olympics are taking place just across the water in London gives everyone a massive boost to knuckle down and follow their dream." However, for Ireland's most experienced boxer and minor tabloid celebrity, there is no chance of resting on his laurels despite a decade of national titles which have effectively made the light-heavyweight berth his own. Egan admitted he would have seized his Olympic silver medal "with both hands" before Beijing but is now still riled he did not bring home gold after a controversial final loss to home favourite Xiaoping Zhang. "It was a close fight and it could have gone either way," added Egan. "But the way it happened with the scoring in the final it did leave me with a little something more to aim at. "I've been Irish national champion for 10 years but it will mean nothing for the next two years. There are young guys aiming to take my place and I needed that little bit extra to aim for - and that's what fighting for the WSB gives me."
I understand what you are saying but 'greedy promoters' - thats a tad harsh! What about if promoters make a loss on a show, should the boxers have to chip in and help cover the losses? Of course not, but the promoter is taking a big risk putting a show on. A fighter should ensure that he is popular enough to cover his and his opponents purse. Its fairly common when you are at the level that a lot of DolPhil fighters are. I also dont buy into the astertion that if ticket prices were lower that fighters would be able to sell a significantly increased volume of tickets to cover the drop in prices. It wasnt worked in practice for other promoters in England that have tried that model.
Did Timsy actually sign a contract in the end? Anyway, I spoke with Sir Frank of Warrenshire about this possibility at the Burns-Martinez fight. He basically brushed me off quickly, mainly because he didnt know who I was and secondly because he said he didnt have definative plans. However another said that it would be headed by Macklin and also intimated that it would be supported by Gavin-Byrne.
no he never signed in the end after getting injured think it was put to him that contract would be there if he fights and wins irish title. if i hear more about warren show ill let you know.
